So many great fictional couples. The first that popped into my head was Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy. But on further reflection I wanted to give an answer that was maybe a little less obvious.
I love stories. Popular stories are wonderful in that we can share together knowing that others probably know what you are talking about. You can share the love of that story and that experience. But I also love shedding light on the over looked or obscure. I'm also going to cheat by adding two fictional couples.
The first is Maggie Ryan and her actor husband, Nick O’Connor. I discovered this couple in PM Carlson's murder mystery, "MURDER UNRENOVATED". I really loved this book and read it two or three times. I love that this cozy mystery has a fun couple that loves adventure almost as much as they love each other. This was reminiscent of such fun couples like Nick and Nora or Tommy and Tuppence.
The second couple I love is Geoffrey Griffin and Sarah Phoenix from the made-for-TV movie and the novel "Griffin Loves Phoenix", both written by John Hill. I discovered this book from the library and fell in love with the quirky and very witty characters who both find out they are dying of cancer and meet at a death and dying seminar. The movie is great with Peter Falk and Jill Clayburgh, but the book is so much better. It has a depth and humor that the movie's one hour and thirty-seven minutes can't capture. I love how the couple reacts to each other, how they come together despite their dire fate. It is a triumph of love and humor overcoming life's tragedies. I must have read this book at least five times. It's a beautiful book and shows a couple with such great chemistry. Enjoy it, but grab your box of tissues!
