I haven't a clue, Rick. The publisher runs them. People sign up, but if they don't win do they actually go out and still buy the book? I'm not so sure. Are you thinking of running one on your own? Since I don't pay, I have no idea what the cost is and so my answer will remain vague. Sorry.

Rick, My first book came out in 2003. Hyperion (Disney) published it. I was not involved in the marketing in any sense of the word--they assigned the book to their in-house PR people. They'd "planned" a pretty big rollout, but it turned out that Candace Bushnell's second book got rescheduled to be released the same day as OTHER FISH IN THE SEA, and my book was more or less dropped from the PR roster. Alas.

Hi Wendy, thank you for the question. I am a big fan of double entendres (the most mispronounced word in the english language): hence RASH. It was rather RASH of us to suddenly uproot our family and move across the planet/my constant worry that Loy would get dengue fever and present with a RASH. (Plus, I really liked the idea of a one-word title.) Btw: the original working title was "On Monkey Forest Road." :)
