Hey Lori, I can't believe I'm just now seeing this question!!! I deeply apologize. Firstly, I would say that I'm a "hybrid writer", if that so-called term makes sense. When writing my novels, the first thing I do is pre-write. I focus on plot, character development, as well as the motive and objects of each chapter/section. Then, I try my best to express those thoughts and execute them by free-writing whatever comes to mind. After that, I do my best to fully form, flesh out and polish the ideas that I have.

I got the idea from my most recent book from a number of short-stories that I started to write. After realizing that all of those stories were some how intertwined or interwoven with one underlying theme or plot, I decided to publish them together in a compilation/crime novel.

This is a really good question. I get inspired to write whenever a story begins to speak to me and whenever it is asking to be told. To be quite honest, I am not one of those writers that will write for the sport of it. I am actually quite comfortable with going extended periods of time in not writing in anything at all. Whether it be two, four or five years. But lucky enough for me, I can't seem to go more than a few months without receiving inspiration to write.

As of right now, I am currently working on my second novel called, "frankly TWISTED". It will be published this summer through my small indie press named Flowered Concrete. I can't really say much about it right now as the book is in its final stage of production, but all I can say is that its a fun thriller of a book and for those that read "Tales of the 23rd Precinct", its predecessor, "frankly TWISTED" will prove to be a much worthy successor.

My advice for aspiring writers is to read as much as you possibly can. The more you read, the BETTER you will be able to write! Not only that, writers that study the craft of writing by reading and devouring everything that comes their way (literature, journals, news articles, etc), have a better sense of story and plot structure. Writing to them becomes natural because they are used to the constructive elements that make a story no matter what form of medium that it comes in.

The best thing about being a writer is that you get to create worlds and as well as characters to live in those worlds however you may see fit. I honestly think that the process of writing is the most exciting aspect. I mean, to be able to come up with a concept or an idea from scratch, and then to add layers by adding characters, settings, themes, motifs, a plot, doing research, and fact checking, etc. It's kind of like be an oil-painter with a canvas. There's no limits or boundaries to my universe when given the opportunity to write.

The way that I deal with writers block is by sitting with the writing that I've already created. I then relax and do regular stuff such as interacting with people I come across daily and watching television. From there, it's all natural as ideas come which allows me to write my books.
