I have writer's block all the time. I believe it is part of the process. It is like the LOADING mechanism of your computer. You sit at your computer watching that little circle go round and round and do nothing. Your subconscious is working but you can't see it or feel it--other than the fact that you feel sort of constipated. And then suddenly, if you keep working, BOOM, you crash through the block. It feels like magic, but it isn't. Your subconscious finally processed what it needed to do. And you are off and running UNTIL the next block. I do best if I'm not interrupted. Sometimes then I can stay in the flow.

I am a writer because I want to write. I have been educated to do other things, but when I write I feel a cleansing of my soul. So, I am always called to do it. I love having written a book. I feel that I have played a difficult game and won. Writing a book is challenging. I always wonder if I can successfully execute my vision. I never do. I always start with a vision and then a different book emerges. So I like being surprised. If you are a control freak, writing may not be the career for you. You have to tolerate the whimsical. I approach writing as if it's play. I have my good days and my bad days. The main thing is to keep going.

I am writing a contemporary romance series set on a legendary ranch in south Texas. I have written Book 4, 2/3rds of Book 3, 2/3rds of Book 1 and am presently writing Book 2. I don't usually write all over the place like I'm doing on this series, but since the books tie together maybe that is okay. I intend to publish these novels under the imprint of MAJOR PRESS.

I turn on the computer. That is the main way. But this morning I was cooking and something just popped into my mind. So I can be inspired anywhere, doing anything. Once I was staring up at ORION after being blocked on a book and the entire book fell into place. I rushed back to my cabin and wrote a 20 page, single-spaced outline and was able to rewrite the book as if by magic.
