Hi, Deni. I have begun both the research and outlining. I'm in the Bible every day so that's just fun! Elijah's story is more involved than Jonah's, in that Ahab and Jezebel play a prominent part in Elijah's life. Also hoping (funds permitting) to get back to Israel, Jordon, and maybe Lebanon. The Creek (Wadi) that Elijah lived in is in Jordon and Sidon & Tyre just inside Lebanon. I'm one of those that needs to see my locations, certainly before a final draft. I'd sure like to know more about your Christian Historical Society. (By-the-way, all of my books, regardless of the genre, have an underlying Christian worldview, even my sci-fy work "Assurity." In the words of Jonah, Gratitude! Anthony.

I started a Christian Historical Fiction Book Club about 1-1/2 years ago with 2 people. We are now up to about 15 people and we have read so many good books. It is difficult To find Christian Historical Fiction instead of Historical ROMANCE. You book was this month’s reading and I can’t wait to get together to discuss it. I would send you a list of what we’ve read but don’t know how to attach a folder to this. YOU MUST KEEP THE BOOKS coming! Just the type we are looking for. Just don’t let the language get too modern like Lynn Austin does all the time. “Come on man” and “you’re kidding me!” I don’t think were spoken in biblical times! (Lynn’s books as well as others do this, not yours!) Thanks for replying back

I think I'll update my progress on my blog and include the process I will go through. The real in-depth aspect will not be the story structure, it will be understanding Elijah's mind, how he talks to himself, how he thinks as he faces the downfall of his country. Hmm, sounds? The man was devout above so many...tonight I'm being interviewed on a podcast about writing. Interesting that it's on this day. Anyway, if you wish to send me something about your group here is my email, have at it.

My mother. Many years ago. She had story ideas galore. Provided untold criticism for my work, and yet, never could write past one chapter. Interesting, isn't it.
Anthony Barbera
Write. Damn straight! Don't be afraid of criticism. Use it, welcome it. Value other perspectives--except--if you have a vision for a story, and you know its right, and your consultant isn't convinced. Its okay if they don't buy in to the story and genre your writing in, win them with the story. If you can do that, and keep your vision, two things will happen. You will make the story easier to comprehend and you'll write a more compelling novel.

I don't know. The stories are backed up for years. I've learned that if I start a project, I MUST LOVE IT. Otherwise, put it away. My goal is to write faster, more clearly, and with a voice that is unmistakable.

I'm awaiting the editors final of 'Assurity' my supernatural space thriller. I just finished editing 'The First Rains of October.'

Wow. I'm not sure about this question. It's not the adulation, that's for sure. I think it's learning new things. Going to worlds of discovery that you didn't know about. Every book, in my opinion, should lead me to new understanding of a subject. Whether it's how a character thinks about the world, or, space flight mechanics, disease, the Amazon, or ancient Israel in time of war. That's why I write in multiple genres. Not just to expand my abilities as a writer, but because I'm writing out of a sense of wonder.

I don't get writer's block, only writer's fatigue. You have to stay with a novel until it's right--the best you can do. It may take a year, or five years. However, I don't write quickly and that is a weakness. When you go back a few years later, perhaps to clean up some grammar, etc. if you like the novel -- you've done your job. That's my goal, to write so that I am engaged with the work. So that I would finish my own book. Truthfully, I don't complete reading more than 20% of the books I begin--for various reasons.
Anthony Barbera
I'd head off to Nemesis. After all, I've spent quite a long time envisioning that world.
