David Gosnell It's working. About 32 chapters in. Had to get the short "A mystery and meal" out first. If I'm not out working full time, it will move ahead quickly. But you know, we have to pay the bills.
David Gosnell Not a dumb question at all. Yes, that's exactly what we're talking about. You will never catch her using Head and Shoulders. That fairy dandruff is useful stuff. And it comes in so many colors.
David Gosnell The truth is it's the result of a rambling mind. I spend an inordinate amount of time behind the steering wheel. Without anything else to do, I think about this stuff. This series actually started as an offshoot to another story. That story after consideration, I thought was pretty predictable and one-dimensional. But Arthur's story didn't feel that way. So here we are.
David Gosnell Inspirations. I guess the main inspiration is escape. You spend a long day dealing with very real matters, it's nice to be able to disappear into another world and help guide it into an existence of sorts. For inspirations outside of me, there's a couple. Coffee is good (understatement). In the AM I find writing over that first cup can be very productive. In the evening sometimes two fingers of good Kentucky bourbon can be inspiring, though anything past that is usually counter-productive.
David Gosnell I'm working on the third installment to the Wielder series, "Death Curse." But I have a couple of other story ideas I'd love to work on too. Unfortunately, I'm not built for writing more than one story at time.
David Gosnell Honestly, I'm not sure that I'm the best font of advice as I'm not a "full-time" writer. But since question is asked, my advice is to know your story before you write. Outline. Make notes. Organize. There are some that might say it takes from the creative process. Hogwash - that is part of the process. Now, sometimes flexibility is called for, the outline does not have to be a rigid thing. I just ran into that conundrum and after long considered opinion, decided that the change was well worth the extra work in re-outlining.
David Gosnell For me, its the creative process. Bringing characters, places, and events to a life of sorts. The other bestest thing is that it keeps me out of trouble. My day job has me on the road, living out of hotel rooms for months at a time. Writing is a great hobby to lean on to help pass any spare time in productive manner.
David Gosnell Probably not in the most sophisticated or workman-like way. I step away from it. Sometimes, fresh eyes are needed. Especially when you're working your real job and have been at it for 12 or more hours.
