Libby Stott Hard to say. I usually preferred reading about friendships rather than romantic couples, e.g. Watson and Holmes. Then there is Virgil and Dante, real people presented fictionally.
Libby Stott Not very well--ha!.

Developing a routine to ease into things: iced coffee, "work music," etc. Then just sitting down--or standing up--and doing it. Reading when I don't feel like writing, but even better is writing when I don't feel like writing. Do the job.

Now I need to take my own advice. : )
Libby Stott I can't believe I'm saying this when I procrastinate and hem and haw before I actually write, but my answer is "the joy of writing." And after the work has been produced, the best thing would be, "having told my story."
Libby Stott It's not much different than that given by many other writers: read; write; develop a routine; use images to jump start things; find supportive colleagues.

Also, there's a lot more to life than reading and writing--don't miss out!
Libby Stott A novel about a Texas thrift shop and a Yankee hero. I also have sketched out some cat and goat tales and am starting a work of poems about my husband and one about friends.
Libby Stott Sometimes a feeling or an image or an experience will do it. Sometimes reading other authors helps. Sometimes just sitting down because I need to "show up for work" will eventually churn something out. Often I have started with a last line, when it comes to poetry.

As for the novel I have been working on "forever," I am inspired by people I wish to memorialize, by dialogue that I "hear," by issues I am passionately interested in--and by a desire to recreate, in part, the wacky, inimitable pieces of Texas I have seen.
Libby Stott Partly life, especially my life years ago; partly my reading of English lit and of Jungian-type works, especially things dealing with the shadow.
