Goodreads asked Libby Stott:

How do you get inspired to write?

Libby Stott Sometimes a feeling or an image or an experience will do it. Sometimes reading other authors helps. Sometimes just sitting down because I need to "show up for work" will eventually churn something out. Often I have started with a last line, when it comes to poetry.

As for the novel I have been working on "forever," I am inspired by people I wish to memorialize, by dialogue that I "hear," by issues I am passionately interested in--and by a desire to recreate, in part, the wacky, inimitable pieces of Texas I have seen.
