Thanks Ari, I Havent seen this lecture but I am always interested in broadening my understanding of alchemy and mysticism and will certainly check this video out.

Hi Carol, thanks for your very thoughtful question. Certainly Teilhard de Chardin thought we would evolve to a higher level. I recommend his book "The Phenomenon of Man" as a good introduction to his ideas of spiritual evolution. I am both optimistic and pessimistic. I see our present trajectory of industrial technology continuing because people will not abandon the material consumption that demands it. I do, however, think that as the environment starts to protest with increased fury at our unbridled industrialization people will wake up to the need to live more simply so that the rest of the life on the planet can simply live. It is when we have reached this understanding of our actions that we will be headed in the correct spiritual direction.

Hi Robbin, I have to confess that I am still learning about the notices here on goodreads. I dont think that it is as instant as messenger for sure. This particular function is so useful but the blos and review section I think can be very helpful for people to learn about varios lierature that they ma ynot yet have encountered.

For my book "The Wand of Jesus." I initially intended to write it as part of a seven volume series on spiritual alchemy because I recognized that many of the symbols of Christianity are closely related to the ancient art of alchemy. As I began the specific research, however, I came up with so much material that I realized it would be better as a stand-alone volume dealing wih the very neglected role of magic as it was practiced by Jesus himself as well as many members of the early Church.

My books focus on mysticism. I am inspired by a combination of my own experience, the experience of others and a passion to understand the mystic aspect of humanity.

I am editing and enlarging a book I finished in 2016 on the occult history of the toad. I expect the new edition to be published in May 2020. My main project for this year is a new book called "The Wand of Jesus: The role of magic in the early Church." This should be available by the end of 2020.
