I am currently editing a one hundred page novella "You don't have to be dead to work here...but it helps" which I hope to release later in July.
After that I will be writing another novel that has the current working title of "Sleep of the dead" which is about a haunting that isn't at all what it seems.

Write your own story. Write in your own voice. Write what you know. Only write because you love it.
Never try to write like someone else. If you are true to yourself you will be unique. Writing what you know about in the way that you express yourself naturally is what will make you interesting.
If you admire someone else's use of language and metaphor, if it isn't how you naturally express yourself don't adapt. It might just sound contrite.
It isn't always the longest words that express what you mean. Just as a song, sung from the heart can move the listener more than impressive singing techniques, words written from the heart, even using very basic language can be the most powerful.
When you know you are the best possible person to tell the story you are writing nothing will be more enjoyable.

Writing! I am literally (excuse the pun) never happier than when I am writing.
I do like readers coming to me and telling me how much they have enjoyed one of my books quite a lot too!

I fortunately have not suffered from writers block. I always find that everything flows very naturally when writing, probably due to my practice of thoroughly mapping out the book beforehand. I begin with writing rough notes and then develop the story completely in note form. I then map out approximate chapters, although this has to be flexible as ideas do come to me whilst writing. It feels like the story is finished before I begin and just needs me to colour it in.
When finished and edited I eagerly begin the next story, and I have many more book ideas than I possibly have time to write them all!
