Being able to purge thoughts and ideas collectively in a way that may resonate with people who are struggling with the same problems. Even though it might seem like our issues are unique, there really are people out there who feel the same way. One reader told me she was in a relationship with a man who was behaving in ways that she read about in "i just woke up dead" and made the decision to leave before his violence worsened. That right there is the best thing anybody could pray for when writing.

Reading past journals or flipping through documents kept over the years from various adventures and experiences were vital to overcome writer's block for "ijwud." As far as writing is concerned, I'm a terrible hoarder. Anything and everything I've ever written is somewhere in a suitcase or shelf or file folder. Love freehand writing, using the old pen and paper. Suppose I'm old-school like that. For other writing projects, talking with others, asking many questions about their interests and ideas can be a great asset to creativity.

Writing allows ideas to surface through a story, to dissect and discuss controversy without blatantly stating those ideas or opinions. You can tell somebody something, or you can show them. If a picture is worth a thousand words, than those words can paint a myriad of portraits that each reader can interpret their own way for a personal, meaningful experience. Painting these pictures to examine my thoughts for others to take as they will is what inspires me, trying to understand behavior and the world and understand why controversy is controversial when it is truthful and real and more common than we know.

After recovering from a terrifying sex, drug and alcohol bender, on the brink of suicide, the urge to reflect on life and the choices made which led to my current place of demise was necessary to decide if life was worth another try. It was. "i just woke up dead" was the soul-searching outlet that not only purged demons but would hopefully provide a story others can relate to, because nothing in addiction literature was relatable to me.
