Sarah King Just give it a go! Accept that you will make mistakes to begin with. Get advice from other authors on writer's sites. If you can afford to, send your work for professional assessment. It really is worth it. Thicken up your skin because not all feedback is positive. Learn not to take criticism personally.
Sarah King Letting my imagination run wild and then crafting my ideas into a tightly plotted book. And nothing beats getting good feedback from readers.
Sarah King I have just finished writing 'What Laura Saw'. It's about a woman who undergoes hypnotherapy for a simple phobia. It sets in motion a terrifying chain of events that will turn her world upside down.'

Now I am working on ideas for a sequel to Gods Inc. I also have two other books in the pipeline. All thrillers.
Sarah King That is a very good question. If I have a really good idea then I rarely get 'writer's block'. That is unless I have a technical problem with the plot. For example with my latest book that is being edited at the moment (What Laura Saw), I had a long period of writer's block. In fact a whole two years! The reason? It was essential that the whole book was told from Laura's point of view. It could not work otherwise. But the plot was quite a big 'ask' when there would be absolutely no other points of view allowed. I was stuck halfway through the book. I knew how I wanted it to end and everything that was going to happen, but it was so technically difficult to write from just one point of view. I needed a big break from the book and to view it with fresh eyes. I am so pleased that I did that as I am thoroughly delighted with the result.
Sarah King Ideas come to me in dreams, or as I go about my daily life. I try to write things down as they come to me. I am not someone who writes just because they enjoy the act of putting things into words. I am not a literary author. I am a story teller. I will not even start a book unless I am 'wowed' by the idea. It has to excite me. I have to at least be able to picture it as providing entertainment to a large number of people. So at times, even though I have had lots of ideas, I don't write if those ideas are not what I deem to be 'special'. If I don't think I would love it as a reader, then I don't write it.
Sarah King Even before I was old enough to understand about life and death, I thought that I was not new; that I had been here before. Perhaps the over active imagination of a child was responsible for this, who knows? But that certainty that I felt as a child who knew nothing has left me with a belief in reincarnation. But the reincarnation theory is filled with flaws. How does it account for the rapid increase in population? How were 'souls' created in the first place? What about animals? The list is endless. For some reason the idea of Gods Inc. came to me when I was mucking out stables and listening to my iPod. The song 'Spirit in the Sky' came on. I love that song. Of course it refers to a very traditional Christian belief in God, Jesus, and heaven. This is not at all like what I depict in Gods Inc. But nonetheless it was the catalyst that inspired me to write the book.

Gods Inc. is a hypothesis of how reincarnation might work set as a backdrop to a suspense thriller.
