The TOP question I get asked about Beyond the After. Problem is I don't remember. All I know is I wanted to write a new story that would inspire today's youth and give them something to own. Cool thing is EVERYONE is loving the idea which is super exciting. I feel this is the next BIG SERIES people are going to be talking about and sharing in the near future.

Anything. I get ideas from all over the place. Some end up being good more stories for kids. Others just end up being silly meant to entertain.

One word: Sacrifice. If you're serious about it you're gonna have to give up something to be great. I gave up video games for 9 months (and even still now) to write Beyond the After WHILE I was teaching. Now I'm giving up watching football on the weekends to do book signings and get momentum going on my books.
BUT it's all for hopefully one day I have the freedom to write and do what I want when I want.
Also, don't be afraid to just go one direction and GO! You can always change it later if you don't like it or think of something better. Unless you've already printed it out and sold 1000 books...then you're kind a screwed ;-P

Um, not sure b/c it doesn't really happen. If anything, I'll take a lot of time thinking through plots scenarios or continuity issues to make sure they seem reasonable. I don't ever want to over explain, but problems and solutions need to be plausible and believable. But I always have ideas flowing and changing.
IF I do get stumped best thing to do is let it go and not keep harping on it. That's when you start forcing the issue and the story doesn't flow well. Your mind will keep thinking on the issue subconsciously and you never know what will inspire you moving forward.
