Lauri Fairbanks The book I am currently writing/revising (Near Miss) was inspired by a story that my friend told me about a celebrity hitting on her while she was a flight attendant. Near Miss has nothing to do with this, but while she told me about it the idea of meeting someone during an accident came to mind and I wrote the majority of the story over the course of a long weekend and it has quickly become one of my favorites.
Lauri Fairbanks Inspiration comes from all sorts of places for me. Near Miss (which is still a work in progress), for example, came about after a conversation with a friend about the time when she was a flight attendant. While the plot of the story has nothing to do with what my friend had to say, the idea came about and I was off and running.

The idea for Jayla's Truth was a bit different in I thought of the Jayla character and the scenes around her flooded in. I think the concept of an unrequited crush is pretty common and it was easy to remember a time when I felt like she did.
Lauri Fairbanks I just started a new project that I haven't even titled yet, so I'm hesitant to say too much about it other than it is very different from my other work. At this point I'm not even 100% sure that it'll be romance.
I'm also working on preliminary edits for a manuscript that I'm in love with. The working title is Near Miss.
Veronica's Revelation is under consideration with my publisher right now so I'm hoping that I'll be working on edits for publishing on that one soon.
Lauri Fairbanks Keep writing. It is easy to quit and rejection is never fun but if you love to tell stories then keep doing it.
Lauri Fairbanks Hmmm. This is a difficult one. There are a ton of great things. For instance -- I go to work in yoga pants and a hoody (my kids call it my uniform), I set my own hours, and I don't answer to anyone until it goes to the editor.

My favorite part is probably the fact that there is a creative outlet for me. I'm not artistic and I'm not a good singer but I love to sit down and let the characters tell me which path to take!
Lauri Fairbanks It really depends on how long the block lasts. If we are talking about one day then I just do something else like watch tv or read or a family activity. If the block is lasting longer then I find it best to start another project entirely. It may be that I'm having trouble writing in one project, but have all kinds of things to say in another.
