Lee Schneider Glad you like them. With the first books I published, I started with Fiverr. But I use reedsy now to find designers. (reedsy.com) There are so many great people on that platform. My last two book covers were designed by the talented Paul Palmer-Edwards. It's been a great collaboration.
Lee Schneider I'm reading a combination of hardcore research books about animal intelligence, with a few escapist reads thrown in, along with some YA.

Examples: How to Speak Whale, by Tom Mustill is a research read. Adventures in the Screen Trade, by William Goldman is an escapist, fun read. York by Laura Ruby is a fun YUA book.
Lee Schneider I started thinking about climate change seriously when it was a literal thing for me, right in my neighborhood. A few years ago, and again right now, we've had fires in and near Southern California, where I live. We assume pleasant weather is the norm here, taking it for granted. It was a shock to see brown air and not be able to go outside. When AI became a household word, I thought I had a book, creating a thriller about a small band of resistors who are trying to manage climate change while staying free of an evil AI.
Lee Schneider I am working on the third book in the Utopia Engine Trilogy. this one is called Liberation. It follows the story of Kat Keeper, leader of a resistance group that is trying to maintain its independence against a corporate AI called MIND.
Lee Schneider Well, I don't think writer's block exists. Sure, I, like anyone, have good writing days and bad days. When I feel things aren't going well, I will take a break from what I'm working on and write a diary in the voice of a character from my current book. Sometimes they will complain about not having anything to write! But that is really the character worrying that they aren't interesting enough to write about. So that tension helps me dream something up.

I plan my writing days aware of what I'll be working on the night before. Sometimes I'll go off track, and that's okay, and sometimes I'll need to work on a different part of the book from what I've planned. When in doubt, I'll write the ending. The ending is the hardest part to write, so why not have multiple tries at it?
