“And it’s unusual for a single guy to have a cat.” Hugh wrestled Mr. Mittens back again. “I don’t have a cat.” Ivy raised her eyebrows. “In which case, I have some very bad news to tell you about your dog.” “I have six cats,” Hugh said.”
Zoe Chant, Firefighter Unicorn

“Chase leaned on the table, staring Sammy straight in the eye. "If you ever, ever try to harm my mate again, in any way, no matter how indirectly, I will find you.”
Zoe Chant, Firefighter Pegasus
“Any crew would be lucky to have you. Come down from the tower, Edith. Don’t let your life be defined by stupid words from stupid men, who needed you to be small so that they could feel big. Be bold, be daring, be you. The person you were always meant to be. This squad needs you. I need you. Join us.”
Zoe Chant, Wildfire Griffin
“She trusted him to break them out, and he trusted her to pick up a gun and fight by his side. They’d break free, and then they’d have an entire lifetime of adventures ahead of them. It was everything she’d ever wanted, except that even in her wildest dreams, she’d failed to imagine a man as cool and sexy and brave as Shane. You’re a bunch of losers, she informed her imaginary boyfriends— imaginary ex-boyfriends, now. It never even occurred to me to have any of you turn into a panther.”
Zoe Chant, Protector Panther
“How about this then." Chase shifted on the bed. Even without looking, Connie knew he was leaning over earnestly, his brilliant, lying black eyes full of sincerity. "I've missed you desperately. I'm overjoyed to find you again. Will you marry me?”
Zoe Chant, Firefighter Pegasus
“Chase shook his head, his jaw set stubbornly. "You say that our responsibilities to the city have to come first. Not for me. My mate has to come first, every time.”
Zoe Chant, Firefighter Pegasus
“I will not spend myself on what I do not value.”
Zoe Chant, The Dragon Marshal's Treasure

Zoe Chant, The Pegasus Marshal's Mate
“You have to be born a shifter. It's the only way.”
Zoe Chant, Alpha Rancher Bear
“But now he was starting to realize that if you didn't have dreams, you couldn't achieve them, either. Dreams were a map of the future. You might not make it to every point on the map, but without a map, you'd never get anywhere at all.”
Zoe Chant, Bodyguard Shifters Collection 1
“Who’s doing to break in out here?”
Zoe Chant, Bear West
“Even with George, she’d taken things slowly at first – and then, afterwards, she had to admit there’d been a certain element of the sunk costs fallacy at play: she’d invested so much in the relationship that it felt stupid to break things off.”
Zoe Chant, A Mate for the Dragon
“Will it leave a scar?" "Only a tiny one. The world knows about us, but this is something we don't tell anyone outside the shifter community.”
Zoe Chant, Sheriff Bear
“Not a chance. Your mom would rise from the grave to cram a bar of soap so far down my throat, I’d be farting bubbles.”
Zoe Chant, Wildfire Phoenix
“Carrie was so delighted that she almost missed the fact that the road was about to end.”
Zoe Chant, The Christmas Dragon's Heart
“When she only had so many books left to read, it was hard to concentrate on any given one because that little voice in her head kept asking, “Are you enjoying this one enough that you’d be okay with it being the last book you ever read?”
Zoe Chant, Defender Hellhound
“soppy smile, but he couldn't help it.  "I'm so glad," he said simply. "Clara's expecting pancakes," Patricia reminded him.  She was so delightfully down-to-earth. Lee swept up his shirt.  "Yes! Pancakes!"  He would stick to the original plan.  A ring with her pancakes, and he'd have Clara there for the moment; all of the most precious people in his life together at once. He rehearsed the moment in his head as they walked down the stairs to the kitchen, and imagined the words and Clara's laughter as he mixed up the pancake batter and heated the griddle.  He was wrapped up in his busy mind until he brought the first stack of cakes to the table–and found Clara setting it for two. "Where is Miss Patricia?" he asked, suddenly aware that she wasn't there, that he couldn't sense her nearby. Clara looked at him with big blue eyes, alarmed at his surprise.  "She drove away!" Lee let the plate of pancakes fall the last few inches to the table and land with a clatter.  "When?  Where?" "In her car!" Clara supplied helpfully.  "She said she had to go." Lee ran the distance to the front door in a matter of seconds, but the car was long gone, tracks in the snow showing her hasty escape.  He stood there with the door open, cold air swirling over his bare feet.  The sound of a car near the tree-shrouded bottom of the driveway gave him a moment of hope, but it moved away down the road.  He'd read her wrong.  Finding out he was a shifter had changed her mind about him.  Mate or not, she didn't want the complication that he was in her life.  This was their goodbye then; a cold, empty driveway and uneaten pancakes.  Lee stood there until Clara drew him back inside by the knees, complaining of the cold that he didn't even feel anymore. PATRICIA FLEW DOWN the driveway much faster than she knew she should, trusting her Subaru to stick to the road and power her through the wet, drifting snow. "I ought to have waited for the snowplows,”
Zoe Chant, Dancing Bearfoot
“I’m sorry, you have a child together but…you don’t know each other’s names?”
Zoe Chant, Wildfire Shifters: Collection 1
“You’re the one who wanted this particular mountain for our camping trip,” Wystan observed mildly. “You were very insistent, as I recall.” “Yeah, well,” Joe muttered, sinking even lower. “That’s me. Fate’s bitch.”
Zoe Chant, Wildfire Griffin
“John sounded mildly disappointed. Then again, he’d once told Griff that the literal translation of “have a nice day” in his own language was “may you be sorely tested by worthy opponents,” which said an awful lot about sea dragons.”
Zoe Chant, Firefighter Griffin
“It had been several minutes since Violet had gone to the”
Zoe Chant, The Billionbear's Bride
