Hi, I'm Ben Wilkins and I write books with pictures in them. I have an MFA from George Mason University in Nonfiction Creative Writing, though mostly I just make things up these days. I live in Northern Virginia with my wife, daughter, and dog-that-is-all-too-human Maddie. I just put out my first picture book, which I wrote and fake-illustrated (I'll explain that someday), called Daddy Feet, and I'm precariously balancing writing with being a full-time Dad.

In my spare time, I'll be claiming to blog new drafts and projects at orangehatcomics.com, but will probably be reading comics and/or taking a nap.

Because children have abounding vitality, because they are in spirit fierce and free, therefore they want things repeated and unchanged. They always say, “Do it again”; and the grown-up person does it again until he is nearly dead. For grown-up people are not strong enough to exult in monotony. But perhaps God is strong eno Read more of this blog post »

More of Benjamin's books…
Neil Gaiman
“I believe that mankind's destiny lies in the stars. I believe that candy really did taste better when I was a kid, that it's aerodynamically impossible for a bumble bee to fly, that light is a wave and a particle, that there's a cat in a box somewhere who's alive and dead at the same time (although if they don't ever open the box to feed it it'll eventually just be two different kinds of dead), and that there are stars in the universe billions of years older than the universe itself.”
Neil Gaiman

C.S. Lewis
“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”
C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis
“The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.”
C.S. Lewis

Neil Gaiman
“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
Neil Gaiman, Coraline

G.K. Chesterton
“Poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese.”
G.K. Chesterton, Alarms and Discursions
