Here’s an idea that I promote in all of my novels:

When the guilty are sentenced to death for wrongs committed against society, I believe they should be required to give something back to society.

I think all the transplantable organs from criminals that are sentenced to death should be harvested instead of frying them in the electric chair or poisoning them with gas or lethal injections. Last year twenty three people across the country were executed; that’s a lot of wasted hearts, lungs, livers, kidneys, and eyes.

A special team of volunteer surgeons for each state that still has the death penalty could be put together. Another option would be to have just one team of surgeons that would travel the country and harvest the organs of the condemned.

This approach would help to make the execution of an innocent person a little easier to bear too. Something positive would come from such a horrendous mistake.

I learned three important lessons over the years:

1) Readers expect the same level of editorial perfection in a 99 cent novel as they do in a $15.00 novel.

2) It is impossible for an Author to proof their own work. Our brains have a built-in auto correct feature.

3) Just because you pay a free-lance proof reader to check your novel doesn't mean they will do a good job.

For those of you who prefer to read paperback books, I wanted to let you know that my murder mysteries are now available in paperback.

I've written a children's book titled Lucky Finds A New Family. This illustrated book is based on a true story. Lucky is a little brown dog who is abandon by her family, so she sets out to find a new family.

I took advantage of the cold wet weather today and started my 5th novel. This story will be the third in the Detective "Brick" Brikler series.

In my first book titled Defending Evil, the vigilante is a metaphor for capital punishment.
