D.R.L. Hicks is more or less a whimsical entity. Such entity admits to being a writer, landscape photographer, traveler, adventurer (there’s a difference), and a dweller between the real and surreal. When not doing those things, can be found doing other various assorted matters. Currently is at large in the northern hemisphere.

This entity has also published books titled: Lost Upon the Isle of Serenity: A Collection of Adventures. and Blair's Beginning. These lovely books are available virtually everywhere eBooks are sold.

A Deviantart Account also contains pictures and short blurbs about my various world ventures.

I will admit my writing is some form of escapism. Also, there's Wonderland--Alice had a lovely little tour that I envy. Another place that would be fun is Stefan Zweig's Vienna in the World of Yesterday. Now you might claim, "But he was writing about Vienna! It is a real place!" Yes, I'll grant that much, Vienna is real (and quite lovely). However, he was writing of a memory of Vienna that is far fonder and nostalgic than the one he lived. History shows his vision simply wrong for most of the people. However, the period was lovely in relation to the world war that followed. Do recall he wrote that book in exile right before his suicide! The Vienna he depicted was and ideal, a utopia--hence not a real place. As a general rule, when it comes to fictional worlds, my desire is to see something interesting or whimsical.(less)

“Is she alright? That cannot be normal,” I ask the Captain. I am finding my two 'sisters' behavior to be concerning.
“Depends on your definition of ‘normal’,” he air quotes ‘normal’, before waving his hand in Cassandria’s face.
Cassandria swipes at the Captain’s hand with a shout of surprise. The Captain moves his hand easily beyond reach. Her eyes then widen in confusion as she studies her surroundings.
Turning back to the Captain, I point out, “I was hoping you had a definition.”
“I have one, but what I would consider 'normal' is different from what most would agree with,” he shrugs.”
D.R.L. Hicks, Lost Upon the Isle of Serenity: A Collection of Adventures

“We don't know in advance what we're going to do in the future, but the truth is we often don't know what we were thinking in the past.”
Nagaru Tanigawa, The Intrigues of Haruhi Suzumiya
