Goodreads asked D.R.L. Hicks:

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?

D.R.L. Hicks Fictional world travel itinerary...well, I suppose it might be interesting to wander into the places of my own books. I will admit my writing is some form of escapism. Also, there's Wonderland--Alice had a lovely little tour that I envy. Another place that would be fun is Stefan Zweig's Vienna in the World of Yesterday. Now you might claim, "But he was writing about Vienna! It is a real place!" Yes, I'll grant that much, Vienna is real (and quite lovely). However, he was writing of a memory of Vienna that is far fonder and nostalgic than the one he lived. History shows his vision simply wrong for most of the people. However, the period was lovely in relation to the world war that followed. Do recall he wrote that book in exile right before his suicide! The Vienna he depicted was and ideal, a utopia--hence not a real place. As a general rule, when it comes to fictional worlds, my desire is to see something interesting or whimsical.
