If it's something as simple as I'm having trouble finding the right words, I'll head to my phone to play a little Bejeweled Blitz. Something mindless that'll let other parts of my brain work out what I'm having issues with. Most of the time it's seriously helpful. Other times, I have to go to my family members and bombard them with a long narrative of what my issue is and maybe something they say will create that spark that I need to move past my block. I was sitting on my couch watching Bones or Criminal Minds and the rhyme just popped into my head. Immediately I ran upstairs to my writerly lair and started trying to work out why this title needs to be a book. Next thing I knew, Violet was a real person to me. She was running with a story line and I just followed her.(less)
