Life has made me fearless, God has made me strong, and being married to my best friend has me laughing every single day. Sunny Southern California is where we call home. I enjoy chai tea, scrapbooking, and surrounding myself with music and books. By day I am Pepper Potts: pencil skirt rockin’ executive assistant to a top leader at a Fortune 100 company. By night I am Riley Jean: reader, writer, rock star in disguise.

(This explains the length--another question people often ask. Just a matter of personal preference.) In "Use Somebody," I feel that Scarlett's character is complex, but fully developed, and her story is wrapped up neatly in the end. For this reason, I do not feel a prequel or sequel is needed.

However, I've been surprised by the overwhelming consensus from readers longing to know, ***spoiler alert!*** "what happened to Ricky Storm?"

Why was this left unanswered? Basically, because I felt it was realistic and consistent for his character. Ricky plays by his own rules. He is gruff and reckless. He is a ticking time bomb who has faced one too many tragedies in his life, and finally self destructed, as it would seem. I felt his story needed to end with an air of mystery. Sometimes in life, we don't get all the answers, and I think Ricky is one of those people that should live on as the great unknown.

That being said... based purely on feedback from readers, I will tell you that IF I decided to expand on this story, it would most likely be a spin-off involving the legend you know and love... more Ricky Storm! Do I know where he is? Absolutely. Have I started writing his story? Mayyybe... At this point I cannot confirm its release. I want to be sure I can do his story justice before I commit to delivering it. I'm not even sure my heart can take writing a story that is potentially even grittier, edgier, and more heartbreaking than Scarlett's. Then again, I'd love to see Ricky get his happy ending, because at his core, he is just a troubled, lonely boy who might "Need Somebody." ;)(less)

“When you’re young, experiencing new relationships and first loves, nobody really knows what they’re doing. We chase the butterflies and try to capture the perfect moments. But the more you grow, the more you realize that’s not what it’s all about. Love becomes real when the ideal fades away. When that one person becomes more important than yourself. When you make the decision that no matter the cost, you’ll never stop fighting for them. When you can face each other, scarred and unashamed in this dark, lonely world, and feel like you’re finally home.
Until we are ready to love with all our hearts, all our minds, and all our souls, we are nothing but lonesome people, just looking to use somebody.”
Riley Jean, Use Somebody

“I just wanted to have someone who understands the real me, and likes me anyway. Is that so crazy?”
Riley Jean, Use Somebody

“Relationships are like that. Each time you fall in love with someone, you give part of your heart away. And when they’re gone, they take it with them. Some people gave little pieces away too many times... Some people gave their whole heart away once... When it ends, what is left of their heart? A smaller piece? A large hole? Could you fill it up, would it heal over or grow back?
And what happens when there’s nothing left to give?”
Riley Jean, Use Somebody

“We were in a battle of wills: him fighting to befriend me, and me fighting to ignore him. It was only a matter of time until one of us cracked.”
