"Aren't you the famous writer?" -- Uh. Actually, I'm being a trifle sarcastic here. I never had anyone stop me and ask me that- Well, actually that's not true. Once I was visiting my son's grade school and he and I were just entering the school when a kid came out and said "Aren't you the famous writer?" "Why, yes, I am," I replied, somewhat surprised at the young age of my first fan. The young man looked confused. "No," he said, "I meant him." And he pointed to my son, who had just had his fiction "published" in the school library.... But except for that mother-proud/writer-humiliated incident, Nada. The best thing is that you get to express some of what you think and feel and have people read and think about it.(less)

I never have forced myself to write, so I've never had writer's block. I think it's that simple. (less)

“Sometimes the heart endures all grief because it seeks joy at the start.”
Lyn Coffin, The Knight in the Panther's Skin

“No, it’s much worse than it was, my friend-
Here hope and talent- all of it scatters, A dream disappears, as does a messiah The peace of wine and smokes is what matters.
No, life is not worth anything, my friend- Even if you’re Christ, it’s worthless today. Comfort’s as worthless as adjusting the noose – Both of them worthless- That’s all I can say.”
