Friending?

I have been reading quite a few posts about this subject lately. Most posts dealing with the etiquette or fear of friending. Here are my two bits in regards to the friending wave:
Without revealing my age, I must say this friending thing is very difficult to grasp. I am not a real forward person to begin with. But, when I look at the friend stats of some Facebook and other sites, it is overwhelming.
I guess to me the difficult part is my definition of a friend. I think the song You Find Out Who Your Friends Are by Tracy Lawrence (lyrics by Casey Beathard and Ed Hill) spells it out as good as anything I could do:
(Chorus)
You find out who your friends are
Somebody’s gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas, get there fast
Never stop to think ‘what’s in it for me’ or ‘it’s way too far’
They just show on up with their big old heart
You find out who your friends are
I have friends like that in my life, I thank God for them every day and hope they know I would drop everything in a heartbeat if they needed me. I know that everyone out there has their own close orbit of supporters, someone that will do anything, go anywhere, no questions asked.
In my eyes, I think the term acquaintance might be a better fit for the social media. A media friend can be there with words but to be there face to face in person, is doubtful. I realize acquaintance is a much longer word and friending is easier to say than acquaintancing, so who am I to question?!!!
That being said, I would be glad to make your acquaintance and I will try to be a good media friend. ; )

Remembering

Almost Memorial Day. I would like to take this time to remember all those who have gone before me. All those who have in some way shaped, and changed this world we live in today.

I would like to thank those who worked so hard to give us a better life, the people who have made positive changes to humanity, be it through the battle field, leadership or inspiration.

And to those who have made negative changes, although the results may be hard to look back on and remember, these changes have served as wake up calls and nudged us in a better direction. They have given us opportunity to rise up, unite and carry on through tough times. And in remembering these hard times, hopefully find a way to make sure these events do not happen again.

All in all I am confident that this world is in good hands. Hands that will lovingly carry us through to the next generation.

New Beginnings

Well here it is the day after Easter. The day we celebrate new beginnings. And I must say this year tops them all for me.

I have been following a life long passion for writing for many years. Starting with poetry and working my way into a novel which I just put on Amazon for sale. Thank you GOD for Amazon!!!

The feedback and comments I've received have exceeded any of my hopes and dreams. I guess we don't allow ourselves the pleasure of dreaming too big, lest we tumble and fall. We want to be able to come out of the fall with bumps and bruises, not a broken heart.

I am so glad I finally took the "Leap of Faith" and followed my dream. I hope all of you reading this post will do the same.

Hear is one of my first poems, I think it fitting for this post:

Mr Blind Man

You see the blind man on the corner
well he's the lucky one
For every single step he takes
turns out to be a Leap Of Faith

Mr. Blind Man aren't you afraid
there's obstacles everywhere
He smiled at me, shook his head
"If I cant see them, they're not there"

"What I find inside myself
is all the guide I need
Every step will be shown the way
if only I believe"

How is it that he does it
can someone please tell me
How can he trust in faith alone
believe in something he can't see

Is this really possible
to live life without a doubt
Find that place, that strength within
I've heard so much about

To find this we must stand alone
on the edge of doubt and fear
take one last step, like the blind man
know faith makes the way clear

This would not be easy
to give up what seems so real to me
That's why the blind man is so lucky
faith, is his reality

Often the way becomes cloudy and dim
unless we can be shown
And some roads are traveled easier
if we don't have to travel them alone

So, Mr Blind Man could you help me
believe in something I can't see
I'll close my eyes
look inside
take a leap
and believe in me...
