Editor’s Note: Allow me to introduce myself. I am Nevada Sudden Gust of Wind, Gusty for short. I was born and raised in a puppy mill. A small 8’ x 8’ kennel to live out my life for one reason and one reason only, to have puppies. Somewhere along the way the market fell out of the puppy business and I was taken to the local pound. On my last leg and mere days away from my last breath, I was rescued. Author Jess Fulton came into my life, I guess you could say she, friended, me. Now, most dog/human relationships are that of master/servant. But Jess insisted ours would be one of companionship. I have been doing my part ever since. She took me home to live on the family farm where there is plenty of room to run free. However, not being used to r ...more

And read, but when you read pay attention to what you read. If you like a certain passage explore why you like it, how did the writer make you feel the way you felt. I think you can learn as much from paying attention to your emotions while you read than you can from any teacher standing as the front of the class telling you how to write. (less)

Friending?

I have been reading quite a few posts about this subject lately. Most posts dealing with the etiquette or fear of friending. Here are my two bits in regards to the friending wave:
Without revealing my age, I must say this friending thing is very difficult to grasp. I am not a real forward person to begin with. But, when I look at the friend stats of some Facebook and other sites, it is overwhelmin Read more of this blog post »

“They say in time all things will pass. But before they do, they last . . . for just a little while.”
Jess Fulton, For Just a Little While

“My final note is on obligation. Once you have set pen to paper or fingertips to keys you have entered into an obligation. I believe if you are going to write then you need to be strong enough to fulfill that obligation. You have an obligation to the imagination, mind, and very soul of the person whom will read the words you write down. That person is entrusting you and your word to carry him or her on a journey, an adventure, a quest. You literally have that person in the palm of your hand. Your obligation is to carry them without faltering and return them safely home again, hopefully a better person, for having embarked on your journey.”
Jess Fulton, Weaving A Tapestry of Dreams

“Today I choose to step outside of my comfort zone into my miracle.”
Suzette Webb, Blues to Blessings: from Fearful to Faithful

“I have a handful of prayers that I pray all the time... One is that God will put my books into the right hands at the right times. I've prayed this prayer thousands of times, and God has answered it in dramatic fashion countless times. The right book in the right hands at the right time can save a marriage, avert a mistake, demand a decision, plant a seed, conceive a dream, solve a problem, and prompt a prayer. That is why I write. And that's why, for me, a book sold is not a book sold; a book sold is a prayer answered. I don't know the name and situation of every reader, but God does, and that's all that matters.”
Mark Batterson, Draw the Circle: The 40 Day Prayer Challenge

Abraham Lincoln

“Don’t walk in front of me… I may not follow
Don’t walk behind me… I may not lead
Walk beside me… just be my friend”
Albert Camus

“I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”
Albert Einstein

Jess Fulton June wrote: "So which authors/protagonists were your favorites as a young girl?"
Surprisingly I did not read much at an early age. I struggled with reading, therefore did not like it. It wasn't until later in life when I read To Kill A Mockingbird that I was hooked. I've been trying to make up for the time I lost every since!
My daughter on the other hand LOVED Nancy Drew. Nancy went along on every family vacation!
