I started writing when I moved to Spain about fourteen years ago. After taking early retirement from secretarial employment, and always an avid reader, I suddenly discovered I had the time I needed to begin writing novels.
My first manuscript, 'A Twist of Fate', lay untouched for some time, but the second, 'A Question of Honour', was self-published as an e-book on Amazon (under pen name Winnie Morriss). After a while, I returned to 'A Twist of Fate' and produced a sequel, and over time, the story line gradually developed into a trilogy. The second, 'Destiny's Path' and the third, 'A Free Spirit'. Shirley Dawson is starting Christmas Wishes for the Railway Girls: Well I have to admit that I DNFd this book. My apologies to the author but I have a shelf full of books just waiting for my attention, so if I start one which I cannot get into from the start, I tend not to waste my time on it. The story may have improved but I read a quarter and it just wasn't capturing me at all, plus the overload of characters from the onset, always puts me off.

An enjoyable read, albeit a long one! A tale of troubled past and war-torn England. Likeable characters and although it was a little bit predictable, the end was wrapped up beautifully.
