Saabrina: Firebird is Out!

I am happy to announce that book three in the Saabrina series, Saabrina: Firebird, is available on Amazon Kindle! A paperback version will follow shortly.

Although it took me longer to publish the third Saabrina book than I intended, the book benefited from both developmental and copy editing from a terrific editor.

I hope you will have a chance to read it.

Best,

Seth

Happy New Year

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy and healthy new year!

In 2020, I hope to publish book three in the Saabrina series. Although my beta readers are happy with the current draft, I would like help from a good editor to finalize it. In the meantime, I'm preparing print versions of the first two books for publication.

Cheers to a great 2020.

Seth

Happy Father's Day

In the Saabrina books, Bob Foxen, one of the main characters, is a middle-aged dad with a grown daughter, Rebecca. Bob exudes ‘dadness’ from every pore in his body.

Where book one introduces the relationship between Bob and Rebecca following the death of Bob’s wife, book two spends time exploring their relationship at different points in their lives: Saabrina, Bob’s AI partner and friend, accesses and replays Bob’s memories of Rebecca, plays a six-year-old Rebecca on vacation at a resort (giving every dad one more chance with their little girl), and becomes a teenage Rebecca on an alien world.

Being a father is an essential part of Bob’s character, including his telling dad jokes, setting how he behaves in the stories. From both Bob and myself to the other dads out there on Goodreads, I wish you all happy father’s day.

Saabrina Book 3 Alpha Reader

Good news, my alpha reader has gotten back to me with her comments to the current draft of Saabrina: Firebird, Book 3 in the series (“S3”).

Although S3 has been through several complete drafts, this is the first time someone other than me has read the book. I wanted her to focus on the big issues: did the plot make sense, did the book read well, do the characters work and stay true to themselves. Having received her suggestions and comments, I can begin to revise again with a better understanding of what worked, what she loved and didn’t, and what she found confusing.

I can’t thank my alpha reader enough for her help. She’s been the first to read each of the Saabrina books, providing great comments and direction. She also provided encouragement: Saabrina would never have started its way to publication without her giving me that first push.

Happy New Year

Rather than January, September feels like the start of the new year to me. This is probably because of the confluence of my birthday, the start of school from when I was a kid and, again, for my now college-age daughter, the rhythm of the work year when summertime gives way to Fall’s sprint, and finally celebrating the Jewish new year during the High Holydays. In these early days of September, I consider the previous year, my life, and what comes next.

Most importantly, I think about who and what I should be thankful for. Thank you to all of you who follow me and have read Saabrina and Saabrina: Tanglewood. I greatly appreciate the time you took to read my books.

Have a happy, healthy, and sweet new year!
