If something is not going the way I hope it will, I will write words down in random and disconnected and often disorganized sentences and paragraphs that, at first, don't seem to work together until I try them out of context. Sometimes I write a story to help me work on a poem I am trying to finish and at other times I will try to close my eyes and let my imagination take control and direct me. Sometimes when writer's block has blockaded every seemingly viable route then it's good to get out and have fun. Taking a hike with the family or going out to eat with family and friends can often bring specific sentences to my mind and even lend itself to future plots and story lines. Everything we do on a daily basis and everyone with whom we interact can inspire us and help us see a new story that needs to be shared. Others inspire me and motivate me to be better. Sometimes I am so focused on myself that the best thing I can do is get away from myself, so to speak, and let others lead me and guid me to greater experiences that are waiting for me if I am willing to open my eyes and see.(less)

I believe that change is necessary for growth and improvement. We do not remain as we are - we get better or sometimes we fall back and do not improve. During these, hopefully, brief moments in life, we can realize that we don't want to digress but progress. I love writing what inspires and motivates me. I try to write words I need to hear that help me overcome the day to day obstacles I face in life. I'm not perfect nor will I ever be perfect. Every minute I have in mortality is an opportunity to make a difference in my own life and in the life of others around me. As a writer, I hope to share what I am learning, struggling with, experiencing, overcoming, how I am trying to improve and be better, and how we all can strive to learn and grow for the better. I work from home writing books and writing music and love being able to be with my family and experience life with my children. I think as a writer we all have a great challenge to share what we write with others and hope that what we have written will help others in some way. We want to lighten the mood, bring a smile to someone's face, enlighten, educate, empower, and entertain those around us. We paint picturesque portraits of the world around us as we see it. We share with others our thoughts, ideas, feelings, pains, sorrows, heartache, hopes, dreams, fantasies, fears, nightmares, and needs. In doing so, we share ourselves with others and invite them into our lives as they invite us into theirs. We connect with each other because we become connected in a world-wide web of wonderful memories and meaningful moments that change the way we see the world and the way we live life! (less)

I was immediately drawn into the story by the positive message and the truths that resonate from a life lived for the glory of God. I felt like I was on my own personal journey of discovery.

“Don’t tell me you’re not good at something. People will always be better and worse than you at everything you do. Tell me whether or not you are making progress. If you are progressing, are you measuring your progress? If you are not progressing, why not? Get to know your strengths and your weaknesses. Develop your own personal progress plan and determine how you could improve and progress from where you are. You most likely don’t know how far you have come and how much you truly have accomplished. Improve and progress!”

“Immerse yourself in good books. Read one to two hours per week if you can, more if time permits. Become acquainted with the literary classics. Read as much as you can on personal improvement (self help), history, people, business, and finances. Study the great works of the philosophers. Study scriptures and read about religions and anything that adds value to religious beliefs. Invest in yourself! Learn as much as you can and become a student of life. You can learn a great deal from the experiences of others, from their great successes and also from their failures. Everything you read becomes part of you. Carefully choose what you read on a daily basis. Be very careful with what you choose to read. The words you choose to read play an important role in your personal development and overall outlook on life. Be open-minded about what you read and often take what you read with a grain of salt. Much of what we read is written through colored lenses and is the summation of someone else’s thought, habit, education, beliefs, and past and present life experiences.”

“Be proactive. Passivity is a poison. Avoid it like the plague. Actively participate in life. You are not a bystander standing on the sidelines of life. Get in the game and go for the goal. Choose what you will do with your life. Choose what you will do with your time. What will you do? What will you watch, read, accomplish, and become? Accomplishment is a result of action. Act the part. Don’t pretend or put on a façade. Don’t wait. Don’t pause. Don’t hesitate. Go. Be. Do. Accomplish. Get it done. ACT. ACT NOW!”
