Lucy Lakestone writes books that offer fun escapes, whether they’re humorous mysteries, hot romances or storm-chasing adventures (as Chris Kridler). She loves sipping a classic cocktail and chasing tornadoes, but not at the same time. An award-winning author and photographer, she’s also told stories as a journalist and video producer. She lives with her husband and two crazy dogs on Florida’s Space Coast, which inspires many of the colorful settings in her books.

Lucy’s series include the Bohemia Bartenders Mysteries and Comet Cove Mysteries, as well as the Bohemia Beach Series of hot romances.

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

I don't know all the details behind why my immigrant grandparents came to the U.S. from Italy, for example, and the stories I heard when I was just a kid left me with a lot of questions.

Sometimes the mysteries seem superficially silly but could have a deeper story behind them; one of the best things about reading and writing mysteries is digging beneath the surface. My silly mystery is that during our wedding, or should I say after our wedding, someone made off with the pretty bucket that held the champagne bottle we were quaffing. I know it's just a champagne bucket, but I really loved it, and of course, it had sentimental value. What happened to it? And why would someone take the bride's champagne bucket? Sounds like the start of a Bohemia Bartenders mystery to me. :)(less)

His characters can transition into not just one fictional book but many. And his novels are wonderfully fun. Of course, if I get to travel into fictional books, I'd definitely visit mine. There's always beautiful scenery... and excellent places to drink cocktails. Plus I'd like to meet my characters in person. The thing about writing is you can live other lives, but to actually step into those lives would be exhilarating. Having a movie or TV series made from my books would be the next best thing.(less)
