I have a B.S. degree in Microbiology with a Chemistry minor from Eastern Kentucky University. In addition, I have a Master's degree in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health. I worked over twenty years as a laboratory technologist mostly in the field of cytogenetics as a certified cytogenetic technologist. In 2009, I broke my back which suddenly ended my laboratory career due to my inability to work full-time. At that point, I wrote my first book, Maria's Mixes: A How-to Guide on Making Your Own Herbal Teas, at the insistence of some close friends who enjoyed my homemade herbal teas. I wrote this book after suffering from this disorder…moreMy most recent book is Adenomyosis: A Significantly Neglected and Misunderstood Uterine Disorder. I wrote this book after suffering from this disorder for seventeen years. I only heard about adenomyosis after I finally had my hysterectomy, and it was at that time that I realized very little was known about this uterine disorder. Millions of women suffer from adenomyosis and endometriosis, and it is imperative that these two uterine disorders get more attention so these women will get better treatment.(less)
