International attorney, award-winning journalist and last of a modest raconteur bloodline, J.D. Lexx has been a storyteller for most of his life and a student of humanity for even longer. Perhaps it’s no wonder that he takes such pleasure in the subtle tease of the written word, in kindling curiosity with every shared tale, then daring the imagination to continue on beyond The End.

A traveler by nature, Lexx spends most of his time between the frenzied streets of New York and the slower pace of New Orleans’ Vieux Carré. When not exploring the sensual psyche through his writing, he can usually be found honing his skills in the kitchen or working alongside charitable organizations to promote literacy and tolerance— two causes not only reflect

To resell my soul to the big city, big firm lifestyle and put the dream behind me. I swear to God, contrived as this might sound, that night I cracked open a fortune cookie. Truth be told, I pulverized it over the table in a fit of childish frustration. The point is, the little scrap of paper left behind literally said, Don't ever give up. I still kick myself for not playing the lottery numbers on the other side because just a few days later I received the first of multiple contract offers on my first book.

Seriously, I still have the fortune. I keep it tacked to the wall over my writing desk. I'll show you if you want.

Look, there are going to be times when family and friends and even common sense tell you to stop. You'll have days when you find yourself doubting everything you do. This, my friend, is normal. In fact, if you go through the motions without ever enduring those feelings, I would say you've probably sold yourself short.

Deep down, you know how high a bar to set for yourself. You know your worth and capabilities. Fight the temptation to settle for less. If you're not polished enough yet, then keep working. If you have certain strengths, use them. If you have certain weaknesses, use them even more!

Respect yourself. You hold inside all the validation you'll ever need.

Respect the language. It's your weapon of choice. Mistreat it or wield it sloppily, and it will kill you.

Respect your reader. They deserve your absolute best. Every moment your words spend fueling a reader's imagination means another moment of magic created and another sliver of joy released into the world.(less)

Boys Will Be Boys. I’d Rather Be a Man.

“Grab them by the p—y. You can do anything.”

Seriously, Mr. Trump? Seriously?

Politics aside, sir, your lewd words appall me. Indeed, your entire approach to women as nothing more than objects to serve your nihilistic appetites churns my stomach. Ironic at first glance, isn’t it, such a claim coming from a man who barters in words of sex and sensuality on a daily basis? But see, here’s the thing

“Life after death. Sex after marriage. While claims are made for the existence of both, the sources are oftentimes unreliable and the evidence, at best, anecdotal.”
J.D. Lexx, MALEDICTION: Rise of the Crimson Confessions

“I will take the hero who carries his villains on the inside. After all, aren’t those the ones who give the wildest rides?”
J.D. Lexx, MALEDICTION: Rise of the Crimson Confessions

“she was a drop-dead redhead with closing time closing in. And I’d had a bitch of a day. How else could it possibly end? The thing is, she didn’t cross that room to seduce me into consent so much as to impose a mandate on our time together, claiming me for the night with little more than a snap of her fingers.”
J.D. Lexx, MALEDICTION: Rise of the Crimson Confessions

“We see the world not as it is, but as we are.”
Anaïs Nin
