David Brin is a scientist, speaker, and world-known author. His novels have been New York Times Bestsellers, winning multiple Hugo, Nebula and other awards. At least a dozen have been translated into more than twenty languages.

Existence, his latest novel, offers an unusual scenario for first contact. His ecological thriller, Earth, foreshadowed global warming, cyberwarfare and near-future trends such as the World Wide Web. A movie, directed by Kevin Costner, was loosely based on his post-apocalyptic novel, The Postman. Startide Rising won the Hugo and Nebula Awards for best novel. The Uplift War also won the Hugo Award.

Jayson Virissimo I noticed you had a blurb for Hanson's Age of Em. Did you write anything more extensive about the work? I'd be interested in reading it, if so.

Rotuma Thank you for accepting my friend request ... I am honoured.

Curtiss I enjoyed your quote from "Glory Season" about the 'practical things' you'd to ask the local wizard/sorceror to come up with.

It reminded me of the advanced technological contributions to 13th century Poland provided by an inadvertent time traveller in "The Cross-Time Engineer" by Leo A. Frankowski (also "A Connecticutt Yankee at King Arthur's Court" for that matter).

Curtiss Have you tried ny Jack McDevitt - his stories are a bit like a cross between Clive Cussler and Jack Vance, with the emphasis on Vance.
