After raising five children and one husband, Janet Ursel came to the obvious conclusion that writing novels was an essential part of the recovery process. Her studies in languages and literature, along with her experience as a pastor’s wife, market analyst, and ESL teacher, made her uniquely qualified to explore the life of a wizard in a parallel universe, so she did. She can be found at janetursel.com and on too many social media sites in one universe, and alternating between Canada and the United States in another universe.

I have always read very widely, but I've always loved the greater sweep of imagination that speculative fiction allows and the way that by framing old issues in an unfamiliar situation we can deactivate some knee-jerk reactions and get people thinking more deeply. I guess that is my goal more than anything else: to get people to think more deeply and look at things from a different angle. I don't set out with a message to tell though. I just try to tell a really good story, and the messages that live in my heart will come out by themselves, I think. There are few things worse than preachy fiction.

Also, because I've always been a generalist, interested in a little of everything, I'm a jack of all trades and master of none. (Okay, so I'm something of a grammar expert. Not something that gets many people excited.) But when I create my own world, I am automatically the foremost expert on that world. If you want to be top of the class, there's nothing like creating your own class and cutting off enrollment.(less)

Fib: Event Horizons

"If Fib poetry is a thing, why can't reverse Fib poetry be a thing?"I asked myself. "It can," I answered.

Drain our lives downward
Spiral us
