Free promotion for Coincidences 23rd - 25th September - An Update

The free promotion for my novel Coincidences, which began on Sunday, is going very well.

The last time I did this free promotion, it ran over 2 days, and I had just over 1,700 downloads, the bulk of those in the UK Amazon store. This time around, it's a 3 day promotion that will end sometime early on Wednesday morning.

I've had lots of support from my readers and author friends, who have been helping out with Tweets on Twitter, and posting links to their Facebook pages. I am very grateful for the overwhelming support.

This time around, I submitted the book to quite a few of the blogs and websites that feature free books. I was lucky enough to be featured on a few of those, including Addicted to eBooks, The Serious Reader, and Free Ebooks Daily.

I have also just received an email from freebooksy saying that Coincidences has been featured there. They hand-pick the books they feature, so it's a great honour to be chosen out of all the submissions they receive.

I'm a featured author at Freebooksy

So far, I have almost double the amount of downloads I had the last time I did the free promotion, with over a day to go. I am very pleased with the results.

Coincidences has gone to #1 in the free Kindle store in the US Drama category and also the Theater category. This to me is amazing, as last time I didn't even get any rankings on the Amazon.com site. At the time of posting this, it's #88 in the Top 100 free books in the US store and #28 in the Top 100 in the UK store (also #1 in Drama in the UK store).

I'd like to thank each and every one of you who have downloaded a copy, and helped to spread the word about the promotion. I hope you'll all continue to help with Tweeting and posting, so that the free version can be available to everyone who wants to read it.

After the 6th October, Coincidences will no longer by in the KDP Select Programme, as I want to make it available in more eBook formats and other eBook websites. So this is the last chance to grab a free copy!

Happy reading!

KDP Free Promotions - a few things I have learned

This blog post is really for the benefit of authors who may not have promoted their Kindle books using Amazon's KDP Select Programme, but who may be wondering whether it's worth doing so. It will also be beneficial for readers who want to learn how they can help support their favourite authors when there is a free promotion going on.

There is a bit of controversy surrounding the whole KDP Select Programme. Indie authors and their books definitely benefit from promotion by a massive online retailer if they take part in the Programme, but the question remains: do the benefits of this type of promotion outweigh the detrimental effect? The result of KDP Select is that there are now millions of free books flooding the market. When will readers find time to read all of these books? Is it a fad? Will readers get bored of these promotions when their Kindles are full to bursting? Will actual sales of books diminish as a result?

I'm going to ignore the controversy for the moment, and tell you a bit about what I have learnt from my own experience of the KDP Select Programme. Right now, I'm thinking that, yes, maybe this promotion has helped me because a lot more people now have my book on their Kindles. Whether they ever get around to reading it or not is another matter. For now, I prefer to believe that they will read it, love it, and buy the rest of my books -- yes, my imagination is still working ;)

Here are some tips for those of you who are thinking of doing one of these promotions:

1. The first time I did the promotion, back at the end of July, I didn't know about all the websites and blogs that promote free books... I think I only tried to get listed with Pixel of Ink, as that was one that I heard has a big following. I now know that there are many similar sites, okay not all of them have a large following, but they are growing each day.

Here's a handy blog post I found about the list of sites that will promote your book. It also has a list of Facebook pages that you can post to. Bear in mind that going through this list takes a while, so don't leave it until the last minute! http://katrinaparkerwilliams.wordpres...

2. I was told about the benefits of Hootsuite by a few of my author friends. I used the free version during my promotion to schedule some Tweets on Twitter during the night when I couldn't be online. This service will send the Tweets out at any time you choose, so you can market your book taking into account different time zones.

3. Readers can help their favourite authors by posting links to the free books on their Facebook pages and other social networking sites and by tweeting and retweeting links on Twitter. I think it's important to have a more or less constant online presence during the promotion to get the most benefit from it.

4. Set up a Facebook Event for your free day and invite your FB friends and ask them to invite their friends. Everyone loves a freebie, so it's a good way to get extra promotion.

5. Goodreads allows you to set up Events. I did that for my first free promotion but not for the second one as I ran out of time! But I think it's also a good way of letting more people know about your free book.

6. Another tip I heard was that in the days following the promotion you should keep your book at a low price as there will be readers still seeing your book on the bargain ebook sites and if it's priced low there's more chance they will buy it. After my first promotion I priced my books at $2.99 and had quite a lot of sales in the month after the promotion. This time I've reduced the price to 99 cents to see if this will mean even more sales. In the past couple of days I have had more actual sales than I would usually have in 2-3 months, so it seems like a good tactic.

As indie authors we are always looking for ways to help more people hear about our books as our resources are limited and we cannot afford expensive advertising. I think Amazon KDP Select is a way to help promote and kick start sales. Whether those sales continue, I think will be based partly on luck, and partly on continued marketing after the promotion.

Good luck to all authors out there who are considering using KDP Select.

Here are some stats, from my promos:

In my first promotion, which was a 2-day one (and bear in mind that I didn't promote on the free sites), I had just over 1,700 free downloads of Coincidences.

This time, it was a 3 day promotion and I had just over 13,800 downloads.

The majority of the downloads in my first promotion were in the UK (about 1,400). On the second promotion, the majority of downloads was in the Amazon.com site (over 10,000).

I did the first promotion - 2 days - on the weekend Saturday & Sunday.

The 3 day one, I did on Sunday-Tuesday, as I had heard that weekdays are better for downloads. The Monday was the day I had most downloads in the Amazon.com site, over 6000.

Coincidences went to #1 in the UK free Kindle store in the Drama Category, and #5 in the top 100 free Kindle books

On Amazon.com, It went to about #18 in the top 100 free Kindle books, and went to #1 in two of the free Kindle store categories: Drama, and Theater.

I hope this information will help.

Remember, if you missed the free promotion for Coincidences, I am leaving it at 99 cents/77p for the next week or so. US/India:http://www.amazon.com/Coincidences-eb...

Introducing Geoffrey D West, author of Rock 'n' Roll Suicide!

My guest today is
Geoffrey David West, author of the gripping thriller Rock 'n' Roll Suicide.

After reading his book, I was keen to invite him here and introduce him to all of you. His book is a great murder mystery, and I would highly recommend it. As luck would have it, you have the chance to download your copy FREE from Amazon this week (between 14th and 18th January)!

The Kindle edition is readable not only on a Kindle e-reader, but also on your PC, Mac, iPad, or smartphone - you can get free apps from Amazon to read Kindle books if you don't own a Kindle. So, make sure you grab a copy of "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide" this week.

Here's the link you need (this clever link should take you to your local Amazon store): viewBook.at/B009XA5SQ4

Here's my interview with Geoffrey:

When did you start writing Rock 'n' Roll Suicide, and did you have a plan for the story when you started?

About a couple of years ago I think. Just had a hazy idea at first, began writing, put it away for a while, then started again in earnest. Had no plan at all when I started.

Did you do all your own editing?

Yes, and in retrospect it was a mistake. I didn’t want copy editing, as I’d already done that, but I thought I’d done the proofreading, having read it over several times. But on the kindle screen I saw more mistakes, and republished. And now I know there are still more mistakes, so I’m going to republish again. I’m really short of money, but rather than have the nightmare all over again I’m going to ask Julia, Terry Tyler’s sister, for help with my next book, as an amateurish manuscript with typos and missed words is awful and embarrassing.

Hmm... to make you feel better, I have just read a book published by Penguin that had no less that 6 typos... there may have been more that I didn't spot, of course. I do believe that it's not possible to get a completely typo-free book.

There is a lot of description in your novel about places and buildings. Did you visit all the places mentioned in the novel, during the course of writing it?

I already knew the places in Kent, because I write for a magazine called Kent Life, in which I described towns and places, so that was fine. And I know Paris slightly. But as for Hamburg, I’ve never been, did it all from books and on the net, so I hope there aren’t any mistakes.

I know that you also write non-fiction. After writing your first novel, which would you say you prefer, fiction or non-fiction writing?

Fiction, definitely. Nonfiction is a lot easier, and also rewarding, but essentially you’re just presenting facts, not creating anything.

Do you think your experience in non-fiction writing helped or hindered you when you came to writing fiction, and in what ways?

Helped definitely. I’ve written many articles about subjects I knew absolutely nothing at all about when I started, to the extent that if I phoned experts, for instance on a building-related subject, I wasn’t even sure which questions to ask. I realised that you just have to bundle into it, get something down, not wait around until it’s crystallised in your mind. Even if you put down rubbish, you can extract what’s any good from it, arrange it into a different order and so on. Many people talk about writing, but hardly any actually get down to doing it.

When you came up with the idea for your novel, did you plan to write a series or is that something that you decided on later?

Decided on later, when I found Jack Lockwood seemed to be an interesting person.

Jack Lockwood, your protagonist, is a psychologist. Do you have any psychology qualifications?

No, none at all I’m afraid, it’s all from what I’ve read and tried to understand, and I hope I’ve got away with it.

How many books do you plan to write in the Jack Lockwood series?

I’d like to write about six, I think, maybe more, but depends if they sell.

Part of your novel revolves around a conspiracy theory about John Lennon’s murder. Were you/are you a Beatles fan? If so, what do you think is their best album?

I was about 10 when they had their first breakthrough (I remember ‘I want to hold your hand’) and back then I was certainly a fan, and followed their careers until I was around 18 I suppose. I always remember the Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club album being played at a friend’s party when I’d just left school – that one I suppose is my favourite.

Much of your novel includes characters who are in some way linked to the music industry. Do you have a musical background?

No, I’m afraid not. But I have read a lot of pop star autobiographies.

What is your favourite type of music?

Country Music, and it’s sad because you hardly ever hear it in Britain. I love Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, the Dixie Chicks, Lyle Lovett. I also like the old rock bands, for instance Lynyrd Skynyrd. And I do like David Gray, Fleetwood Mac and Richard Thomson and the old folk bands, such as Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span.

Was Maggi O’Kane, or any of the band members in your novel, inspired/based on real musicians?

I suppose I loosely thought of Suzi Quattro, but only because she’s the closest to what I had in mind – Maggi is certainly not based on her. However the place, ‘The Mansh’, I think was based on someone (I think a Fleetwood Mac member) who owned a country mansion, and they called it ‘The Manor’ and used it as a recording studio. The lovely old building and the musicians in it, gave me the idea for the beginning of the book, and the ‘What if’ extension of the beginning turned it into a story.

How much research did you do for the book?

Quite a bit I suppose, but nothing too deep. For instance, I read a lot of pop star biographies, researched Hamburg for the travel details and so on, and also researched the ‘new’ career of being a Behavioural Investigative Adviser, and read books by leading criminal profilers about their careers and cases they worked on.

The book is written in the first person, and often when I read books written in the first person, I wonder whether the character is similar to the author. How much of you is there in Jack Lockwood, or is he based on someone else/purely fictional?

A lot of first person writing is, perhaps, wishful thinking – I would love to be a fearless righter of wrongs and intrepid in the face of danger. I would also like to be extremely clever! However the only real way Jack Lockwood I suppose is like me in that I love building, crafts and DIY and do a lot of that kind of work, and know plumbing, carpentry etc.

Apart from the Jack Lockwood series, are you working on any other projects?

Yes, I’m lucky enough to get writing work for Kent Life magazine, also I’m trying to get back into writing articles about building and DIY, plus I’m planning to do a few building/DIY books on kindle. I tried to interest publishers on books on Kent, but with no success at all.

Your book is only available in e-book format at the moment, as far as I know. Do you have plans to make it available as a paperback?

Not at the moment because I cannot afford it. Although I suppose there’s the Print on Demand option, how do you sell books when you’re unknown? People might risk wasting 77p (99c), but would they risk £5 for a book they may not like?

Do you prefer reading e-books or print books?

I suppose print books, it’s nice to feel a book in your hands, but the convenience and cheapness of e-books is their advantage, being able to buy one within seconds.

Do you have any tips for someone who may be considering self-publishing a book?

Yes, get someone to read it to check for mistakes, or, better, pay a professional proofreader, because, for some reason, there are always more mistakes than you realise, and you can’t see your own mistakes. And don’t be put off by the technical side of formatting, because Kindle and Smashwords.com both offer very good free guide books that take your through the entire process. I was also lucky enough to hook up with some really nice people on Twitter who helped me in many ways: Terry Tyler , Maria Savva (of course!), Darcia Helle , Martin Johnson , Mary Metcalfe and a number of other kind folk. Going on Twitter is an excellent way to try to market your book and discover other tremendous authors to read.

Who designed your book cover?

Ian Scaife, of www.isgraphics.co.uk He
did a terrific job.

Yes, it's a great cover!

Who are your favourite authors?

Robert Goddard, Dick Francis, Douglas Kennedy, Tony Parsons, Sarah Waters, Barbara Vine.

There are lots of twists and turns in Rock’n’Roll Suicide, and lots of murders/deaths! As a crime fiction writer have you ever based a character on a particular person you dislike and then killed him or her off in the novel?

Great question, but actually no, I don’t think I hate anyone enough to want them dead. But who knows about the future?

Where can people buy your books?

Rock’n’Roll Suicide: viewBook.at/B009XA5SQ4 And I’ve got a page on Amazon for my others: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Geoffrey-West...

Where at the best places for people to connect with you online?

www.geoffreydavidwest.com and my blog at http://bit.ly/QoYXbv

Thank you, Geoff! I wish you continued success with "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide", and look forward to reading the rest of the series!

Introducing Tasha Harrison, author of Pearls

My guest today is a talented author I recently came across on Twitter, Tasha Harrison. Even though I have over 300 unread books on my Kindle (mostly free downloads!) I decided to buy one of Tasha's books because the cover caught my eye and the description sounded like something I would enjoy.

I'm so glad I decided to read Pearls; it's one of the best books I've read recently. You can see my review here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

After reading the book, I was keen to invite Tasha here to introduce her to all of you. She has told me that she is planning a free promotion of the Kindle version of Pearls on 13th & 14th February! So, mark those dates in your diary and make sure that you download a copy.

Here's a useful link for the Kindle book (it should take you to your local Amazon store): viewBook.at/B00A8RJE8O

Without further ado, here's my interview with Tasha:

'Pearls' is all about people finding themselves and how it's never too late for someone to change. Your character Charlie likes the mantras she finds on the cards in Kate and Gary's house. Do you have a favourite mantra that helps to inspire you?

‘Everything is exactly the way it’s supposed to be at this moment’ is a bit of a hard one to get your head around when life isn’t going your way, but I’ve found it gives me a sense of comfort, knowing that I’m not in control and that maybe something else is.

Ah, yes, I like that one :)

Your character, Miriam, has a paranormal experience in the book. Have you ever had any similar experiences?

No, but I’d like to! I believe in life after death, although I don’t subscribe to any particular belief as to how it all works. I was watching Brian Cox on TV the other night talking about the beginnings of life on our planet and I was finding the scientific explanations a bit hard to follow until he said, ‘Energy can’t be created or destroyed, only conserved or transformed.’ And that made sense to me. I suppose that Miriam’s experience – seeing a young woman’s soul leave her body at the point of death – is something that while on the one hand, would be quite disturbing, on the other, could also bring much peace of mind.

Yes, it's kind of like the scene from Ghost when Sam dies!

How long did it take to write 'Pearls'?

I guess about a year to write the first draft, while trying to juggle part-time work and family life. My working day stops at 3 when I pick my kids up from school. Some days I write in the evening if I have the energy! I’m a speedy typist, so if I’m on a roll, I can cover a fair bit of mileage in a short amount of time.

Apart from 'Pearls' you have 2 other books. Can you tell us a bit about those?

Package Deal and Hot Property are both beach reads through and through. Package Deal is set on the Greek island of Kefalonia and is about a group of British holidaymakers whose lives become entangled on their two-week holiday in a newly-built apartment complex. The caretaker there, ladies’ man Dimitri, immediately eyes up singleton Mia, but for once his charms are having little effect.

Hot Property is similar but is set in Crete and is about a group of ex-pats who are striving to live the perfect sun, sea and sand lifestyle, but thanks to a devious local property developer, life is not quite as idyllic as they’d hoped. Both novels are humorous holiday reads, and are told from lots of different characters’ viewpoints.

They sound like fun! I will be adding them to my list of books to read :)

Your bio says that you studied journalism, and worked as an editor for various magazines. Do you prefer fiction or non-fiction writing?

I worked as a sub-editor, so not as high up the ranks as an editor, but doing the job of editing nonetheless! I love writing fiction and can’t imagine not doing it, but since starting a blog, I’ve rediscovered how fun writing non-fiction can be. However, I find it hard to find the time to fit it all in – writing a blog, promoting my books, writing books, kids and work – there aren’t enough hours in the day!

Do you do the editing and formatting for your books?

Both Package Deal and Hot Property were taken on by agents, and therefore underwent several drafts before being submitted to publishers. Sadly neither agent was able to sell, so when I decided to self-publish them as e-books, I asked sub-editing friends to proofread them for me. With Pearls I didn’t have an agent’s guidance, but I paid a friend I used to work with to edit and proofread it for me. You can never have too many fresh pairs of eyes to spot the mistakes you missed! On magazines, every single page gets proofread by a whole team of sub-editors, and still mistakes can slip through the net! As for formatting, I’d be lost without my husband’s help – though that said, I did manage to format my own table of contents on Pearls which I was very proud of! It was actually very simple, but I can usually be trusted to mess up even the simplest of technical tasks.

I'm like that... a bit of a technophobe, but have found that most things are easier than they first seem once you set your mind to doing them!

All the characters in 'Pearls' struck me as being very realistic. Are any of them inspired by people you know, or are they totally fictional?

All the characters are completely fictional apart from Miriam, who was inspired a fair bit by my mum but also by a friend. Many years ago, after losing her sister to cancer, my mum turned to AA when she felt she’d become too dependent on alcohol. Her drinking was nowhere near as bad as Miriam’s, but she felt she needed to take control of her life and turn over a new leaf. I went to a few AA meetings with her and they were incredibly humbling and inspiring. As a result, I joined Al-Anon (a self-help programme for friends and relatives of alcoholics) for a few years and it turned my life around. My mum conquered her demons, too. More recently she’s been exploring Buddhism (as does Miriam in the book), so thanks to her, I’m always getting some kind of spiritual education that challenges my way of thinking!

Which one of the characters in 'Pearls' can you most relate to?

I can relate to all of the three main female characters to some extent. There’s a bit of me in each of them. In my early twenties, I was like Charlie, lacking in confidence and self-belief, while like Kate, I was also holding onto a lot of anger from the past. Today, like Miriam, I’m more at peace with myself.

Who designs your book covers?

My brilliant husband! I tell him what I don’t want and he works out what I do want and puts it all together.

I must admit I was drawn to read Pearls because of the cover! That happens to me sometimes LOL

Who are your favourite authors?

I love Lionel Shriver, Anita Shreve, Sarah Waters, Khaled Hosseini, to name but a few – all such gifted storytellers. Recently I read The Legacy by Jill Rowan, a witty time-travel novel with a romantic twist – I couldn’t put it down.

Do you prefer e-books or paperback/hardback?

I’m not bothered. I think e-books are a brilliant innovation – they make reading so much more instantly accessible. But when I read a book that really bowls me over, I quite like to own it in paperback and put it up there on the shelves for keeps!

Me too!

Are you working on any other books at the moment?

Yes, my current WIP is called Blown-Away Man and is set in the '80s and the present day in London and Lincolnshire. For the first time ever I’m writing in the first person, the story is told from one character’s viewpoint only, and that character is a man. Uncharted territory for me!

That is a challenge, but those types of thing can really help with our development as writers.

Where is the best place for readers to connect with you online?

Come visit my blog at www.tashaharrison.com or look me up on Twitter http://twitter.com/TashaHarrison_

Where can people buy your books?

Currently they’re only available on Amazon. But I’m hoping to put them on Smashwords at some point this year.

Do you have any tips for someone who might be considering self-publishing a book?

If you don’t get your book properly edited and proofread by someone who does it for a living, there will undoubtedly be more mistakes than you realise in it and you risk not being taken seriously. That said, I don’t think I’ve ever read a trad-pub book without a typo or two in it! Also it’s well worth sending your manuscript to somewhere like http://www.literaryconsultancy.co.uk/ who, for a fee, will give you some professional, honest feedback in a written report. The more professional feedback you can get before you self-publish, the better.

Yes, I did that with a couple of my novels. I sent them to Cornerstones. That type of professional feedback is very helpful, I've found.

Thanks so much for being such a great guest and for answering all my questions, Tasha! I wish you continued success with you writing!

Stella Hill is proud of the home she's created for herself and her daughter. She's worked hard to buy the very best of everything ... But when she wakes one morning to find her kitchen on fire, Stella knows her life will never be the same again.

At least she has Paul to lean on: Paul Smart, owner of Smart Homes, confirmed bachelor and unknowing recipient of a schoolgirl crush Stella never quite got over ... When the charismatic John Dean turns up after sixteen years, Stella is determined not to fall for him again. Because now her heart belongs elsewhere. Or does it?

With a boss she's half in love with, a teenage daughter about to go seriously off the rails, a spendaholic mother, and a house to rebuild, Stella's problems are only just beginning.

Can Stella put her life - and her home - back together again? And will she ever realise just what it is she really can't live without?

Descent of Blood by Elizabeth Marx is free on Amazon at the moment, and I'm not sure for how much longer, so all you vampire fans should grab a copy now!

England, 1465. Mortal men clash in the War of the Roses for the English crown, while vampire warriors' move undetected among their ranks, savoring the flow of blood that battlefields provide. Vampire prince, Severian Pearce, fears the revelation of the immortal clans to humankind should King Henry fall from power. While in pursuit of Henry's enemies, Severian comes to the aid of Meridian Neville, a human woman he craves, and not for the scent of her blood. Meridian is torn between honoring her father's dying wish and her unexplainable yearning for Lord Severian. But as Severian and Meridian work together to protect a relic hunted by mortals and immortals alike, the red veil descends over them.

This all-consuming attraction can drive immortals to the brink of madness. Will the existence of this powerful bond between a human and a vampire be enough to unite the immortal clans or is the red veil a scourge set on destroying any chance they might have of happiness?
When all hope is lost, one vampire will fight unto death for his forbidden love.

Another Elizabeth Marx book, is also currently free, Cutters vs. Jocks.

On the idyllic campus of Indiana University, Little-Libby-Nobody clashes with Band-Aid All-American-Athlete and fireworks explode, spiraling Libby and Aidan into a collision course of love at first sight versus lust you can't fight. Libby believes superstar jocks don't take cutters to Rose Well House, at midnight and pledge their undying devotion beneath its sparkling dome. And Band-Aid imagines there's no place in the major leagues for a small-town waitress. As the game plays out and their affection grows, they realize that labels like cutters and jocks can't extinguish what's between them.

Regina Puckett's The Magic of Snow is free on Amazon until 4th July 2013! I haven't read this one either, but it sounds like an interesting twist on a fairy tale.

In our beloved fairy tales of old, Prince Charming always saves the damsel in distress. In our modern world, sometimes the damsel has to find a way to save her prince.

When Sarah White meets the ruggedly handsome Staff Sergeant Charlie Prince, she discovers a man with a pure heart hidden underneath his warrior façade. Before Charlie leaves with his unit for Afghanistan, he promises to stay in touch, but after nine months of exchanging letters and emails, he stops writing. When the letters stop coming, Sarah waits in agonized suspense, not knowing if the man she had fallen in love with has been killed in action or if he has just decided he is no longer interested in her.

Magic is real, but it’s not for the fainthearted or nonbelievers. It takes true love to release it and hard work and determination to keep it.

How Teddy Roosevelt Slew the Last Mighty T-Rex, by Mark Paul Jacobs, will be free on Amazon on 4th & 5th July.

Still stinging from his recent election loss, former president Theodore Roosevelt sought refuge in the Brazilian jungles in early 1914 on an expedition to trace the last unmapped Amazonian river system, the Rio da Dúvida or The River of Doubt. Co-commanded by famed Brazilian explorer Colonel Candido Rondon and staffed with Roosevelt’s 24-year-old son Kermit, naturalist George Cherrie, and more than a dozen local porters and laborers, the Roosevelt-Rondon Scientific Expedition was plagued by disaster from its very onset—incompetent planning and inadequate outfitting would result in near mutiny, hunger, death, and even cold-blooded murder. But Roosevelt meets an odd stranger along his ill-fated journey, who tells an astonishing tale that could challenge the very core of modern Natural History. Weakened by illness and starvation, Teddy Roosevelt is caught in a web of unfathomable danger, the results of which would alter his life and the lives of his companions forever.

Thank YOU & a cover reveal!

I just wanted to thank all my readers, fellow authors, and random people on the Internet for helping spread the word about my free promotion. For 3 days from 3-5 July, I was giving away my book Delusion and Dreams as a free Kindle download, and within a couple of days it was listed on two categories on Amazon.com, and reached #1 in one of the categories. It also made it into the top 100 free books on the whole of Amazon.com.

I couldn't have done this without everyone's help. Lots of people helped out by Tweeting on Twitter, sharing on their Facebook pages, and telling their friends.

Thank you to everyone who downloaded the free book, to everyone who Tweeted, shared, told their neighbour about it etc.

I am truly grateful.

For those who downloaded a copy, I hope you enjoy the stories as much as I enjoyed writing them :)

For short story fans, I have a bit of news! I will be publishing another collection of short stories very soon. I have made the book trailer, and designed the cover.

'3', is -- as the title suggests -- a collection of three short stories.

They're all new stories. They have quite dark themes.

I'll be telling you more about this soon.

Hope you love the cover as much as I do!
