Talicha J. is an American Poet and author of the upcoming poetry collection, Falling in Love with Picking Myself Up. She has competed in regional slams with the Respect Da Mic Slam team of Charlotte, NC in 2010. And has also been a competitor on a national level at the Individual World Poetry Slam in 2014 and the Women of the World Poetry Slam in 2014 and 2015. She released her first poetry album, In the Making last May.

Then I came across an interview with one of my favorite poet's, Amber Tamblyn. She quoted another poet that told her in regards to writer's block that her "muse was sleeping." Suddenly I was okay with those long periods of time where I don't write because when I did force myself to create it was always really bad. Now, if it's not there I don't force it. I focus on something else, like planning the next step in life or even just what's for dinner. I just let it run it's course and when the muse awakens, she lets me know. (less)

It seems as though I can never be bored as long as I've got a way to write down what I can imagine. I love creating characters and letting them evolve on their own, sort of just hanging back and going along for the ride. It ensures a lifetime of entertainment! (less)
