Within minutes, nearly all the main characters, their motivations and the basic plot was all right there on that notepad. I can't remember an idea ever coming to me so suddenly and with such detail. Needless to say, I was excited to dive in and start writing the story. Having just finished edits on the third book of the trilogy, it's an amazing completion of that initial spark.(less)

Set smaller goals so you won't get overwhelmed. Rather than thinking about writing an entire novel, focus on finishing one page a day (or something similar). Remember, only one page of writing a day will add up to a 365 page novel in one years time.

Always keep that joy, that excitement, that drive that made you want to write in the first place. Don't let the fear of what you should write, what other people want you to write, or what you think you need to write to sell more books detract you from the true vision you have for your story. Trust yourself but stay humble. Don't forget to listen to feedback, especially when you keep hearing the same advice/critique from multiple people.

In the end, you want to be able to look back on your books and be happy with the results. Be kind and work well with editors, agents and publishers but always make sure to keep your vision of the story intact. (less)

Paul Regnier answered Clean Mom's question: Paul Regnier
The short answer is yes. The long answer is I started writing the sequel right after I wrote Bard Tidings, but then life got a little crazy. I had to set it aside for awhile. When I got back to the computer, I had a new story idea burning through my See Full Answer

Monster Therapist by Paul Regnier
"Fun, comedic adventure that had me laughing out loud on several occasions—really enjoyed and definitely recommend!

~~I received an early copy of this book from the author and was not required to leave a positive review.~~"
Monster Therapist by Paul Regnier
"Once again, a great, fun read from Regnier. Although a lighter read, when it came to humour and deep world building, I found this book on par with Mark Lawrence's Prince of Fools series. I hope there's more to come with Monster Therapist."
Monster Therapist by Paul Regnier
"This book was so much fun! I loved the author's other book, Bard Tidings, so when I saw this cover, I had to get my hands on this one as well. And it did not disappoint! If you loved the Dungeons and Dragons movie or his other book, Bard Tidings (hil" Read more of this review »
