If something isn't working I put it down, that's it, and I start another project. I come back to whatever was not working eventually, sometimes it takes years and years. It took a little time to get used to the old English and following the story in the beginning was a bit bumpy but once I understood what was going on, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Highly recommend for entertainment and literature.
