Jason Rickett has been writing as long as he could form sentences. This may sound like an exaggeration, but his first piece of fan fiction was a short story with the characters from Battlestar Galactica from 1979. He was nine years old.

Jason has been writing ever since. In the early days, it was mainly to keep himself entertained, exercising a brutish imagination, gobbling up his concentration at school, at jobs, at home when he should have been doing the dishes or mowing the lawn.

He worked extensively on his high school literary magazine, first as a contributing author, then as an editor, also as an artist. A stint in college continued the blazing trail on the path of an English degree.

A hole opens and I can put a lens to the hole and see what happens in that other world. Sometimes it happens without my control and I'm just a reporter. Sometimes I control what happens. Sometimes I tell a character to do something, and the character balks that he or she would never do that and to quit making them do things they aren't comfortable doing. It's a unique situation to be inside and I love every moment I get to go there.(less)
