George D. Hatt is a war veteran and a former newspaper editor who now works in the public communications field.

He grew up on a ranch in the Texas Hill Country. He learned at an early age to watch out for rattlesnakes and, when he was older, to find the divine not in a church but outside, whispering through the century-old oak trees beside a wet weather creek.

George is a graduate of Texas State University, where he earned a BA in English and an MA in Mass Communication. He lives in South Central Texas with his wife, Cindy, and his hoard of books, swords and armor.

Jason--Sorry I took so long to answer. I'm still getting used to the author dashboard on Goodreads!

Honestly, I don't think any of the critique I've received for Kingshelm was wrong at all. Even if I didn't agree with it, I could see where the criticism was coming from and understand why the person was giving it.

Bear in mind that all of the critique I've received for Kingshlem has been from beta readers, from friends and family. I don't have any stars or reviews posted online yet, so my answer could change with the passing of time...(less)

Though the druids of history bear little resemblance to druids in high fantasy, they're still a fascinating subject to study--especially since we really know so little about them. I believe there's something like a grand total of 15 lines of text written about them by their contemporaries, and those sources are Greek and Roman.

I think the druids in my book blend elements from actual history, high fantasy convention, and the current druid revival in neopagan practice. I had great fun working and creating with that blend!(less)

Happy New Year!

It’s been a busy year, but you wouldn’t know it by reading my blog posts. We’ll try to remedy that in 2016. Last year was pretty quiet on the writing front, as well. That’s another thing that needs to change in 2016. In the meantime, Kingshelm is now $0.99 for a limited time. Pick it … Continue reading Happy New Year! Read more of this blog post »
