Greetings to everyone!

Thank you for visiting my page! My name is Autumn Slaght. (That is Slaght spelled WITHOUT the U and pronounced "Slate" like the rock. :)) I am the author of several published novels including the "His Majesty's Lights" series and my most recently published novel, "Liberty's Freedom Trilogy," book one. I'm the co-founder of my publishing company, River Tree Press. I'm a violinist, an actress and, most importantly, a Christian. I'm a believer in Messiah Jesus Christ, who is my Lord and my Savior, and my goals in life include drawing people closer to Him in any way I can while also drawing closer to Him, myself; and also to tell as many people about Jesus as I am able.

I've heard many people say after they've read or watched some epic book or TV series such as the Lord of the Rings as a popular example, it is hard to read or watch anything else afterwards for a while because it was just so...so...epically wonderful that no other human work could ever match up to it, so you don't even want to bother. Well, that's how I feel about all Christian books after finishing this one. My life is forever changed.
I started this book for a book group that unfortunately did not go anywhere. But then I started to read it for myself and do the study guide along with it. And it was one of the most spiritually fulfilling experiences of my life. I haven't felt this way since reading Get Lost by Dannah Gresh for those of you who have read my other reviews.
The book drew me in from one of the very first lines where J. I. Packer points out that there is a huge difference between KNOWING God and having known God. I've heard it all before, but this time it resonated differently with me. It showed me my own spiritual state.
Friends, this book isn’t a book about God. It is a journey...a journey to know Him better. Packer makes a case for a Holy God, a just God, a loving God, a gracious God, a wrathful God, a jealous God...all in One perfect Being. When you’ve finished it, you can’t blame God or be angry with Him for His wrath or His allowing of calamities in our lives...because he took the time to explain that God is holy. Not to mention it’ll light a fire inside of you to share the Gospel with as many people as you can.

This book is not your typical, cheesy, shallow book about “knowing God.” It actually introduces us to the Creator, the very heart of the Father and invite you to make a decision. Know Him more? Readers, it won’t be easy. This is not an easy book to read by any stretch of the imagination but it is one that NEEDS TO BE READ BY ALL BELIEVERS. Because it will actually show you Who our God is and what He expects of us.

Lastly, the most important thing. I’ve grown up in church my entire life. But I have never...never...heard the Gospel explained more clearly than it was in this book. And Packer didn’t even “Share the Gospel” like most people do in their books...it just sort of happened and it all made so much sense. I am sad to say that no church I’ve ever been apart of has ever come close to explaining why a Righteous God needs a Propitiation for our sins and if you don’t know what that word means...read this book. ;)
