Walking on the beach looking at the sea, the waves, the colours, the reflections the sky - all these things help me to develop a sense of place in my writing. Also buildings inspire me - I can imagine who lived in a house, what they looked like, what they wore, how they decorated it, how they lived in the space. History inspires me too. How people lived, worked and loved in a particular era. Lastly women inspire me. My books are set in the past when women often had no voice, no votes and no rights.
