One is a history of John Webster's revenge tragedy 'The Duchess of Malfi' - it has been rewritten, adapted and staged in so many different ways in the four centuries since it was written. The history is fascinating - amomost other things it involves Spanish spies, Victorian divas, and dancers dressed as skeletons...

The other project is another book on literature and the Bible - it's a series of chapters which explore how popular culture and the Biblical books connect, from The Hunger Games and Harry Potter, to She's The Man and Narnia. It looks at the way we can trace connections and literary images between the works - it's not an attempt to find 'Bible values' in pop culture, or anything like that. (Like everyone else I groan inwardly when I hear a preacher say of pop culture '...and isn't that a little bit like Jesus?')(less)

Review – “Murder at Ardaig Castle” by Daniel Sellers

Death at Ardaig Castle is a clever and thoroughly enjoyable whodunnit by Daniel Sellers.  It is the fifth in his series of crime novels about Lola Harris, the police detective who is usually to be found in the environs of Glasgow.  This book, however, presents a case in an isolated part of the Highlands, marking a change in landscape and a slight shift in the mode of crime fiction.
