I’m Sarah.

I love reading, writing, and living stories. Adventure stories are my favorite: Treasure Island, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Wingfeather Saga occupy the prominent spaces on my bookshelves, alongside the true adventure stories of Amy Carmichael, Helen Roseveare, and Paul Brand.

I’m a home educator (a.k.a. mom) and a pastor’s wife (a.k.a. jack of all trades). I have found that following Jesus is the greatest adventure.

I use stories in the neighborhoods of my community to share the love of Jesus with children and families in need of hope. I hope that the articles, books, Bible lessons, and thoughts inspire you to know, love, and follow Jesus too. My latest novel, "The Winning of Lady Wisdom" will be released on Mar. 21st.

The Lost Art of the Missionary Story

When Jesus sent His disciples out two by two, they cast out unclean spirits, and they called for people to repent of their sins.

They were excited when they returned to Him with the world’s first Christian missionary stories.

Missionary stories aren’t in vogue any more. My favorite one, written by Amy Carmichael, a missionary to India at the beginning of the twentieth century, attempts to tell Thi

I wish I could give this book 10 stars.

It is equal parts biography, literary analysis, and deep thinking devotional.

Guite deep dives into both the poem and the life of the poet, resurfacing with insight, courage, and hope.

Lori McWilliam Pickert
“Allowing children to learn about what interests them is good, but helping them do it in a meaningful, rigorous way is better. Freedom and choice are good, but a life steeped in thinking, learning, and doing is better. It’s not enough to say, “Go, do whatever you like.” To help children become skilled thinkers and learners, to help them become people who make and do, we need a life centered around those experiences. We need to show them how to accomplish the things they want to do. We need to prepare them to make the life they want.”
Lori McWilliam Pickert

Amy Carmichael
“Nothing could ever matter again but the things that were eternal... There are so many stories already in the world, and so many are splendid and great, that it is difficult to believe it can be worth the telling. But if only I can tell it under direction, it will carry at least one quality of clear, running water- sincerity.”
Amy Carmichael, Gold Cord
