Christy Perry Tuohey is a 30+ year veteran of newsrooms and classrooms. She was a TV news reporter and anchor in markets including Charleston/Huntington, WV; Charlotte, NC; and Columbus and Cleveland, OH. Her writing has been published in multiple print and online newspapers and magazines including the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Pillars Magazine and the Charleston (WV) Gazette.
Perry Tuohey taught journalism and grammar/writing mechanics classes at Syracuse University for 16 years and also served as web content producer and manager for the Newhouse School’s official website – http://newhouse.syr.edu Wielding her red pen, she has edited hundreds (maybe thousands) of students’ news stories and essays.

I found a snippet of information along the way in my research that there had once been a Hardmans store in Summersville but could not find a second source to back that up. In my teen years, I lived in Spencer, WV and the Hardman family and their hardware/home stores are based there, so I chose to use their name. I used a geological survey of Nicholas County to "create" a cave near Caroline's home, so it's not based on an actual cave but is in keeping with the real terrain. However, I do have another book in the works that involves Ohio Union soldiers who hid in a cave on Panther Mountain and I do have proof of that location. So glad you're enjoying the book! :)(less)
