William Timothy Murray was born and raised in a small town of the Deep South and now lives in the Appalachian foothills of northeast Georgia.

He enjoys stargazing, tinkering with an old sailboat, and music (right now, he is really into Revien and Ludovico Einaudi).

He is not sure whether his favorite author is Charles Dickens or Patrick O'Brian. His favorite wise character from a classic novel is Faria. His favorite not-so-wise character from a classic novel is Barnaby Rudge.

If he had to fight a duel and could choose the weapons, it would be trebuchets at three hundred yards.

His favorite place is sitting before a crackling fireplace with a bowl of popcorn, a glass of sweet iced tea, and a good book.

He keeps a small writing desk in an old bar

There have been so many works of fiction that have influenced me in one way or another.

If I absolutely had to list two novels, then I'd say probably either Dr. Zhivago or Les Miserables. Some other authors have been very influential to me are Dickens, Tolkien, St. Exupery, Patrick O'Brian, etc.(less)

Or times when you feel stymied by some problem or obstacle that keeps you from moving ahead with your work.

I don't waste time agonizing over all that. I just turn to a different task that needs to be done, a different passage to write, editing, or some other task that needs attention. There's always something to do. When I come back to the troublesome task, I almost always feel better about tackling it. The key is to just keep working, because idleness will just make you dull.(less)

“Proud houses fall into decline and great cities pass into ruin. The stories of those things are lost to forgotten languages and moth-eaten scrolls. Vine and root grapple with the rune carved in stone, and rust carries away, fleck by fleck, the great gates of iron.”
William Timothy Murray, The Bellringer
