Torri Pines is the pen name of an author born in Prague, Czech Republic, currently living with her family in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She studied in Prague and after receiving a Master's degree in Material Science, followed by a PhD in Organic Chemistry, she moved to San Diego, California to pursue her career as a scientist. She authored and co-authored over thirty professional papers in peer-reviewed journals and books in the field of medicinal chemistry and participated on various research projects with patented outputs. In recent years, when frequently moving around the US (Illinois, California, Wisconsin, Oklahoma), she took time to focus on creative writing. Her passion is science and a life-long hobby is history. I use my writing to address the issues (personal, political, moral, etc.) that interest me.
The historical plot is inspired by a certain specific artifact or locality. My imagination simply starts creating pictures and stories on its own when I visit historical exhibitions, castles or battlefields.(less)
