Dave Moore is a financial crime fiction novelist. He brings 15 years of working in retail banking in one of the most affluent communities in the world (Greenwich CT) to his craft.

My favorite fictional couple would be Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan in the "Great Gatsby" because of how the nature of their relationship transcends a mere relationship between two people.

Gatsby invented himself and developed his entire persona just to be with her, but he was trying to recapture something that he never really had, nor could ever really have. He could be with her physically, but that was not enough. He wanted a moment, an idea. It became his only goal, a goal that was near, but always just out of reach. It created him and then destroyed him.

How many of us have a moment they would like to relive, a chance to recapture a moment that we have been romanticizing? It's not a whole lot different than Ike in my book Monkey Man, who thinks if he can go back to his glory days in business, his problems will be over, but those glory days are an illusion and the events that it sets in motion are deadly.
