Shafts of Light
Shafts of Light is beautifully written and a joy to read. I feel I am with you on a journey of exploration into your soul. ANNE
I don’t normally like poetry but after reading the poem Divine Dance, I had goose bumps up and down my arms. Loved it. Beautiful book. JUDITH
The poem Held was one of my favourites, reminding me of the promise of spring whatever my circumstances. SUE
Loved Shafts of Light. The cover, the photographs and the explanations all add to the reader’s understanding and enjoyment of the poems. Como Bridge really resonated with me as I also travelled over it many times and admired the view. PAUL
Shafts of Light is a wonderful combination of everything. Inspiring, thoughtful, funny and very relatable to my own life. Kaye is such a clever writer. JAN
I gave a copy to a friend who loved it, both poems and presentation, and is keen to use the poems with her Girls’ Brigade group. WENDY
I’ve just finished the last poem and it’s been a wonderful journey reading Shafts of Light. CHELLE
With each turn of the page I’m lit up on the inside with wonder at what part of my soul this poem will awaken. Kaye’s poems touch a place that gives me courage to listen for what is being said and what is not being said within my own soul. JANINE
Beautifully illustrated and the perfect gift to give away to friends, even those who normally aren’t readers. CLAIRE
Really love Shafts of Light. Three poems that particularly spoke to me were Fly, Heart’s Desire and Renewal. MARLENE

out of the storm – Disappearing Act
I disappear into books.
What’s your super power?
Relaxing over the Christmas holidays with a good book is a pleasure most of us love, and when we use books as presents, they become the gifts that keep on giving as they are passed from friend to friend.
* Perhaps your daughter or granddaughter devours fiction.
Dawn of Hope Book 1 and Kept by Love Book 2 are funny , sad and moving as a girl tries to find herself and make sense of life.
* For the person who has everything, Shaped is a challenge to personal growth, finding a way to bring peace out of pain.
* For anyone who likes poetry, Shafts of Light is a hard cover book combining words and beautiful photos that offer a raw, honest look at life and nourishment for the soul. Let words like sunbeams warm your heart.

out of the storm – GRATITUDE
As a writer I love words and have had 5 books published, but the best words of all are from the Best Book of all in which God says ‘I have come that you may have life and have it abundantly.’ Can we believe this promise in our current COVID world? I believe these encouraging words are relevant in every age and applicable to every generation.
While out walking recently I felt the sun warming my back and realised that no-one can lock down the sun. Ducks and a beautiful regal swan sailed by on the lake and I was so thankful that we can’t lock down the birds. Flowers were open, drawing me close with their colour and perfume, definitely not in lock down. Returning home I listened to my favourite music which always calms my mind and spirit. Music also can’t be locked down.
So much to be grateful for in a very tough and difficult time. Not everything is locked down. If we take time to look up, we can choose gratitude over despair and find courage to fight on. Viktor Frankel, writing about his concentration camp experiences, penned these challenging words:
Two men looked through prison bars –
one saw mud, the other stars.

out of the storm – AND INTO POETRY!!!
It’s good to shelter with a friend when caught in the rain!
On rainy days I also gravitate to books which constantly enlighten and stimulate me but I must admit my addiction can kick in on any day regardless of the weather. Is anyone else addicted to reading? Someone once said that ‘Life without books is like a house without windows.’ For me that translates to no sunlight, no fresh air, no access to the world beyond. Books are a lifeline to new ideas and perceptions. As a reader I devour stories and as a writer I try to lead others to see what I see and feel what I feel.
Following are some new endorsements regarding Shafts of Light. It is rewarding and humbling when your message is understood by others and you seem to be achieving the desired impact:

out of the storm – New journey into poetry
‘Poetry is the shadow cast by our streetlight imaginations.’ (Lawrence Farlinghetti)
That is such a great definition. What do we imagine beyond our sight? What is happening in the shadows of life? Are we brave enough to go there?
The use of poetry continues to grow as a recognised form of therapy. More and more psychotherapists across the US, UK and Europe continue to use poetry therapy as part of their practice. It can help us understand ourselves as the words move from our minds to touch our souls and sometimes inspire us.
Follow me up the steps and into that new world where surprises are around every corner, where beautiful emotions may catch you unawares and where a helpful insight might be revealed. Some have begun that journey by reading Shafts of Light and following are some responses –

out of the storm – It’s here!!!
Writing a book is like being pregnant. There is initial excitement followed by good days and bad days as you push through growth and changes. There are doubts – “Can I do this?” – and impatience to see the finished result. Delivery day arrives and nothing happens! Will it look OK with all parts in the right place? Finally you hold that long-awaited-for reward and you instantly know it was all worth the work and the waiting. Some mums would say that delivering a baby feels exactly like birthing a book but writers have all the elation without the pain.
Shafts of Light arrived on 1 December and at three book events so far, comments have been really positive and complimentary. It’s so humbling when situations/conversations that have touched you, continue to also touch others and I’ve discovered that men not liking poetry is a myth. The hard cover and photos throughout make this a suitable addition for your coffee table to share with others.

I would love some feedback on the poems you like most.
Still need to buy some Christmas gifts? Maybe I’ve just solved your problem!
