A native of Northeast Pennsylvania, C. G. Barrett received a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University and a M.A. from George Mason University.

A former teacher and student of history, he has more recently served as publisher of World of Westchase, a Tampa newsmagazine. His humor writing about life as a parent has appeared in numerous parenting magazines across the United States.

Barrett’s popular novels have included both young adult and adult fiction in the genres of fantasy and mystery. His love of mythology, fairy tales, history and politics is evident in his fiction, which frequently explores family and identity in a rapidly changing world.

Barrett lives with his wife, his three daughters and his two Shetland Sheepdogs in Tampa, Florida.

The best cure for writer's block? Sit in a chair with your keyboard and forbid yourself from getting up until you've produced 400 words. Writer's block is too frequently trotted out as an excuse to avoid the work of writing.(less)

While I enjoy all readers' positive reactions to my work, I would likely still write even without an audience. I find creating a story simply by plucking a neuron and putting it to paper exciting and fulfilling.

That said, I particularly love when something I've written makes my daughters laugh or smile. (less)

Lauren Groff's Fates and Furies

So, here's my take on a current best-seller, Lauren Groff's Fates and Furies, a Christmas gift from my wife.

Groff is clearly an intelligent writer who managed to pull together a good story with some clever twists. Her novel is a story told from two different perspectives.
