Hello Goodreads folk, this is my first blog entry here on this site so I'm going to keep it brief.
After being prompted by some questions on here (what advice would you give to aspiring writers?) I just wanted to write down the things that helped me and are essential.
Cultivate within yourself, discipline, determination, persistence and dedication. All are needed in order to get through the rigours of a book, and the ones that follow. I also recommend professional grammar checking software - very useful not just for novels but writing emails and anything web based. I use Grammarly (if I can mention it?) which has saved me countless blooper blushes.
Read lots of other writers, attend talks and master classes, use YouTube to help you out and find the time (hook or by crook) to actually do your writing. Then edit, revise, edit, revise... on and on until you feel you have produced the absolute best that you can.
I hope that advice was helpful.
